The Toyota Higlander will go to the USA market later, as a 2020 model year... maybe in the first weeks of 2020...

And this is what Motor Trend ( https://www.motortrend.com/news/2020...asons-to-care/ ) say about this appliance: "Hey, guess what: Hybrid family crossovers don't need 306 hp. Sounds obvious, right? For the 2020 model year, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid shifts its focus, becoming less powerful, likely more affordable."

I said: trinkets are sold in large volumes ...
That the hybrid boy....Deliveries of the new Highlander start in December, Toyota is in flight with modifications to their factory to start producing them, ETA for production to start is late October so they have some volume to push out to dealers.

Sorry troll, can't steal my line. Get your own material. Better yet, go back to GMI

@falcon lover apparently there are people who value cosmetic stuff over actual vehicle engineering. Ford could have opted for a lower-cost FWD car platform but they didn't.

Ford seems to be the only one going after FCA's Durango and Grand Cherokee.

Yeah, Toyota and others want to make sure they are profitable and selling in high volumes...I mean have you seen the last sales chart?! At this point there’s only 4 out of 10 D3 vehicles there....What does that tell you hey?! According to your comment it should clearly be the opposite of what we are seeing in the hard numbers...I guess it Ford doesn’t care that much about volume with profits and want to only sell the F150 in big numbers, then this was a great idea. This means Ford could potentially become irrelevant in various segments.

Toyota and others... who? Nissan, wich is in a drastically slump in sales? Honda, wich is giving away its Accord? GM wich is killing its sedans like Ford. Is Toyota relevant in all segments? Tell me, dear HELLboy, is Toyota relevant in all segments? Of course not!. Is not relevant in the big pick up truck bussines. Is not relevant in the commercial vehicles (Transit segment). Is not relevant in the pony car segment. Is not relevant in the sport halo car (Ford GT, Chevy Corvette...). Is not relevant in the 3 row midsize luxury SUV segment (Aviator segment). Please, HELLboy, go to see porn in internet.

Well said.
Explorer has moved upscale and left other FWD platforms in the dust. All while spreading the price point range to reach far more North, and make no mistake, Ford will sell every one of them. - massively increasing ATP's. The simple fact that our resident troll can only complain that there is in fact a price increase to get to this premium level, is as laughable as pretending not to understand that sales will be shared with Bronco and even Aviator.

That is how you earn the title, resident troll.

Nope they aren’t...they are very strategic focus with the intent to take over a specific segment....

E.g. many years ago, they set out to take the crown of best selling sedan in America - compact and midsize, it took a few years, but they did it....

In 2007, they set out to make the RAV4 the best selling small SUV in the US....and they did it....

In 2011, they set out to make the Highlander the best selling 7-seats SUV in the market...and based on current numbers, they have achieved that...

Now their new target is to become #3 in the pick up truck segment...they are hard at work to make the next Tundra affordable and modern, including new full hybrid powertrains...

Somehow through all of that, they still managed to remain the most valuable company in the world...you should see graphs and comparisons with the numbers, it will scare the crap out of you.

And a practical example — my friend’s gf had a Focus sedan, she enjoyed the car but when she went to swap it for a different sedan, she ended buying a Civic —> I am sure there are millions of customers out there doing the exact same thing

Hear that everyone, Toyota is going to take over the truck segment. Like they were supposed to many years ago. But now our resident troll claims they are working hard and have something in the pipeline that will do that. And they really don't have that far to catch up.

And he wonders why we call him a troll.

People, please don't feed him.

Hmmm they never said they were going to...they were too busy taking the other segments away from Ford, one by one....because somehow Ford can’t get their stuff together, there’s always something missing...as more reviews of the Explorer roll in, I will make sure to call out the patterns - cheap interior, unrefined powertrain and high price, the usual themes are already shaping up 😉

But Toyota is targeting #3 for the next gen Tundra, will it happen? Truck consumers are very attached to their brand...but all it would take is a design or powertrain slip to get people across to a different brand - look at what’s happening to GM 😉
