FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO PARTICIPATE IN J.P. MORGANíS AUTO CONFERENCE 2018; COMPANY TO SHARE DETAILS ON OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES, COMMITMENT TO A HIGH-MARGIN GROWTH PORTFOLIO
AUG 2, 2018 | DEARBORN, MICH.

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 2, 2018 Ė On Wednesday, Aug. 8, Hau Thai-Tang, Ford Motor Companyís executive vice president of Product Development and Purchasing, will present at J.P. Morganís 2018 Auto Conference in New York.

Thai-Tang will discuss elements of Fordís previously announced target of $25.5 billion in cumulative cost and efficiency opportunities through 2022, which represents an average annual improvement of about 3 percent in the companyís planned cost base, as well as Fordís plan to allocate capital to its high-margin growth portfolio.

Thai-Tang will provide an overview of how Ford is revamping its product development system to improve efficiency, quality and speed to market, including a move to five modular, flexible architectures from nine global platforms.

In addition to operational improvements, Thai-Tang will discuss the companyís capital allocation strategy to refocus capital on high-margin, high-growth businesses. For example, in 2015, Fordís five-year plan was to allocate 63 percent of product capital to trucks, commercial vehicles and utilities. Fordís updated five-year plan starting in 2019 calls for allocating about 90 percent of product capital expenditures on trucks, commercial vehicles and utilities, delivering vehicles Fordís customers want.

Thai-Tang also will provide a glimpse into the future of Fordís winning portfolio, including the new silhouettes the company is developing to satisfy a broad range of customers.

Fordís presentation will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. EDT at J.P. Morganís office in New York City, 383 Madison Ave., and can be accessed on Aug. 8 at shareholder.ford.com or by clicking on this link.

I have seen the silhouettes.

Trust me, there is little there to be excited about.

I was at first disappointed to hear that but then I figured it may be good to hear your opinion ahead of time as to not get my hopes up. Hopefully it'll be a difference of our opinions, but yeah it's probably nothing for us to get excited about. I'll still look forward to seeing what they say about the silhouettes but I'm more curious about the five modular architectures they'll be discussing. And possibly more.

"...90 percent of product capital expenditures on trucks, commercial vehicles and utilities"

Yeah, based on the limited product portfolio plan, the silhouettes will all be big boxes, medium boxes and small boxes. One can only pretend to be excited about a tall box on wheels for so long.

I think Hau Thai Tang is walking into and ambush of questions intended for Hacket
and with the softening of US profits and losses globally, I think Hackett's plans
are already in the "Shytter", so to speak.

Why didn't they make a side view of these cars? I can only make out a few trucks, the Mustang and Bronco. Two of them though look sort of like car replacements? Time will tell what they are.

Several are copy/pastes of each other, so I really wouldn't pay too much attention to those.
