Aston Martin inks engine deal with Ford

By Michael Gauthier

Aston Martin has reportedly signed an agreement which will ensure their Ford-built engines stick around for another five years.

The company declined to confirm the rumors but, if the reports are correct, it likely indicates there won't be any radical changes in the near future.

However, it remains unclear if the dealwill have any impact on Aston Martin's partnership talks with Daimler.

Not unless they secretly sold it.

Ford needs to buy Aston back, imo..... It was the only brand in PAG that was worthy, imo..... Also, I believe it could benefit Lincoln.

While I agree with the Astons are beautiful statement, sadly their look is starting to get old... old in the sense that their cars for the past decade look all the same. They need to start tweaking their styling some.

Agreed! Although if that were to happen Consumer Reports would suddenly hate the MyTeslaTouch screen and label the car unbuyable!

They have been slowly tweaking it with each new car. I think their tweaks have been evolutionary in the same way the 911s tweaks have been over the same time period. Astons are meant to fill the niche between a Ferrari and a Bentley, having 90% of the performance of the former, with 90% of the luxury of the latter.

^^&^ agree **

I still want Lincoln to buy Tesla...
OR
...at least bring out competitive alt-powered vehicles of their own

** actually with new, smaller(,invisible?)headlites
and a touch more soft-stealth(B1)aero
think AM is fine for another decade

In all honesty I hope Ford does not expend to much energy/money on all electric vehicles in the near future. If they are going to compete I would much rather see something like the Voltech or Fisker used, an electric car under most circumstances, but with the range extender to remove the major downside to electric. As has been pointed out, its going to really suck when your child needs to get to the emergency room now but your car doesn't have enough charge to get there!

All electric is simply not ready yet, and is unlikely to be ready anytime soon.

^ also agree
that's why I went to the bother of typing "alt-powered" instead just electric...

...thinking something new for the range-extender part is getting close - now wondering if "voodoo" could have smaller applications that could do away with Atkinson?
