The BMW i8 has arrived in Australia, unveiled this morning in Sydney. 0-100km/h(62mph) takes just 4.4sec, and it sips only 2.1L/100km. The three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces 170kW(228hp)/320Nm and is teamed to a plug-in drivetrain that offers a combined total output of 266kW(356hp) and 570Nm.

Bentley to Debut Plug-In Hybrid Mulsanne Concept in Beijing - MotorTrend
By Alex Nishimoto | April 09, 2014

...Bentley ... tinkering with plug-in hybrid tech ... will debut the very first electrified Bentley at the Beijing auto show later this month. Called simply the Bentley Hybrid Concept, the Mulsanne-based vehicle sports a hybrid drivetrain, but also comes with all the luxury you'd expect from the ultra-premium brand...

...plug-in hybrid system will increase power up to 25 percent while reducing CO2 emissions by 70 percent, and calling the concept "a technology showcase that previews Bentley's first plug-in hybrid model ... capable of driving at least 50 km (31 miles) on electric power alone. Bentley boss Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber previously told us that a suitable hybrid drivetrain could be sourced from the Volkswagen Group parts bin...

...Schreiber said in a release. "By the end of the decade, at least 90 percent of our production will be available as a plug-in hybrid"...

Re: What new electroVehicle(s) should F-L produce Next?

wanted to transplant from Mission:Lincoln!:
...wonder, *IF* the MKS(wic) will stick around for a while,
IF FLincMoCo could call the S's nextgen "THE MARK"
(also noticed how Both "series" have similarly a range-topping SuvCuv and Sedan(s)

since the [Edit] function is working tonight, here's some dimension speculations
_ovl____wlb____w____ht________
206.0 - 120.0 - 76.0 - 58.2 - THE MARK Lux
204.1 - 112.9 - 75.9 - 61.6 - D3-MKS
199.9 - 116.1 - 76.0 - 55.2 - THE MARK Sport
198.0 - 116.1 - 73.4 - 58.2 - LWZC / Zelectric
194.1 - 112.2 - 73.4 - 58.2 - Lincoln MKZ

re-re-re-edit:
wondering IF...
...^The MARK(s)^ could be used as just electrics after Rwd Continental(s) come out?
...the F-Awd CD4 platforms might be better suited to that than Rwds?

&
rant a bit for SOMETHING electrified to debut @ NYC!!

imho Lincoln must debut a new electro-version at EVERY major autoshow from Now ON!
re-
until they're ALL variously electrified**:
- a couple-few full BEVs
- lots of Plug-Ins
- ordinary Hybrids (temp/short-term)
- E-wd** for base trims & sport models

**
as well as ALL AWD!

Re: What new electroVehicle(s) should F-L produce Next?

^ that should be the plan.

MB is to offer the C-Class plug0in hybrid next year, and Audi is bringing several plug-in models. But so far we have not seen any plug-ins from Lincoln. Which I think is Lincoln waiting for the next generation larger battery pack for plug-in vehicles at 31 miles, as opposed to the current 21 miles. But at the same time we are still waiting for 'more details' that are coming for the 2015 Focus closer to launch date that is 'expected' to offer a plug-in hybrid model with 25 EV miles. If that comes to fruition, I would expect the also expected MKZ plug-in to offer the same longer 25 EV miles.

Ford is supposed to offer 'lots' of drivetrain news 'soon', so expecting something substantial.....

re: a partsbin battery pack,
there IS the FocusElectric's 23kWh (76 mile range!!)
which I've started ranting be used for Lincoln Plug-In
(think I need to find a pic/diagram of that - to see if its shape could adapt to a new use... )

Re: What new electroVehicle(s) should F-L produce Next?

Ford needs to update the battery capacity to more like 50 miles before they introduce a newer vehicle. I get 26 roughly maximum on my Energi C-Max.

That said, here is what I would like to see:

C-Max Energi with 50m range in ev only
Fusion Energi with 50m range in ev only
Focus EV with 200m range to beat the Tesla model III
Fiesta EV to beat the Nissan Leaf
Fusion EV with 250m range to beat Model S
Ford Ka brought over as an EV to be a city car to beat Smart Ev and Fiat 500 EV
C-Max EV with 250m range to be a great Model X competitor

EV stats as follows:

Tesla partnership to get 250m range with fast charge 500w current.
Make all EV and Energi models to have the push button transmissions like in the Lincoln's.
Battery packs should be placed under the car seats either under the body like the tesla or similar to the Volt.
Solar panel or smaller for HVAC. Either installed in the glass as a film or on the roof around the glass panoramic area.
More aluminum and high strength steel car frame and carbon fiber panels to lighten the car.

More to come.......................

Current Car; 2018 Focus EV 115m Range
2015 Focus EV 75m Range, 2013 Cmax Energi, 2010 Fiesta, 2007 Milan, 2005 Ranger, 2002 Focus Zx5.
