NewYear Predictions~Resolutions

thought it might be OK to combine
Predictions + Resolutions
_____ cars & non-cars
we could do
____either & both

here's a list of 2 from column-A from Phil LeBeau

Predictions: 9 For '09 In Autos - CNBC
Posted By: Phil LeBeau
Tuesday, 2 Dec 2008

In an industry going through as many changes as we've seen with the autos, it's probably not the smartest move to make predictions about what to expect in the next year. That said, here are my predictions.

1. Chrysler will be sold.
2. General Motors will shed brands as it restructures.
3. A Chinese auto maker will buy its way into the U.S. market.
4. Detroit will need more help.
5. Sales? What sales?
6. Going electric will charge up.
7. Fiat will return to the US
8. Honda will officially pass Chrysler to become No. 4.
9. SUVs will rebound.

more... ie a paragraph about each
(also posting this in the Cerberus BailING OUT thread if you'd rather stick to just the auto biz)

Re: NewYear Predictions~Resolutions

more hunch than prediction,
tho sales overall will be LOW in '09
imho it'll be very un-even per mfg...
...2 will be on their way out of the U.S.
& 2 will see the major market-share gains...
no idea who the ^other winner^ will be
(guess it be 'symmetrical' to add 2 new mfgs will enter or return - 'cept I don't think so)

and on a personal side,
I've never been good at resolutions so I'll just say I NEED to get to an autoshow
:fidget: :fidget:

Re: NewYear Predictions~Resolutions

Well, I guess I'll go along with you guys.

My predictions are...

# 1. Chrysler, Will fall & just become a page in the automotive history book. And Dodge/Jeep will be sold to the Chinese.

# 2. GM, Will keep Rick Wagoner as CEO, Fail to part ways with Saturn, fail to let Pontiac fade away pridefully, will be unsuccessful in selling Hummer & Saab. And will have to file for Chapter 11 by May.

# 3. Ford, Will slowly/carefully, but surely restructure without government help & will gain market share & will be successful in the sale of Volvo.

1.- rigth....but still the name arround...
2.- not rigth. Only you are acurate rigth with the bankrupcy date: may, or last days of may!!
3.- partially rigth: Volvo is still losing the money Ford needs to produce the marvelous Fords, Lincolns and Mercurys the customers want.
