Sat in a Tesla Model S today

So while roaming the mall near my sister's house today near Phoenix, I happened across one of the new Tesla mall stores they are setting up and sat in the new Model S. It was of course an early prototype and not up to production spec, but it was amazing none the less.

The center consul makes MyFord Touch or Cadillac's Cue system look old. It is literally a one piece 17 inch touch screen (think huge iPad). Everything except for the hazard lights can be controlled by it (even the sun roof!). From the demonstration, the system worked perfect without any problems and had the easiness of an Apple product.

The car is stunning as well. The design works very well with its lift back layout. Tesla's effort to steal Mazda's head designer worked out.

Re: Sat in a Tesla Model S today

cool
&
questions:
- those things cost what, $50-100k depending on modeltrim & options?
&
- did you inquire about a testdrive?
&
- since I seem to put Lincoln in every thread - Should they do one?
&
- howza about moving this to our General Auto Discussion section so it doesn't get lost...

It was a prototype and had ben heavily used in testing so it was pretty beat up, so it wouldn't translate for production quality.
