Ford Fiesta RS And Focus RS Still On The Radar: Report
Contrary to previous reports, it looks like Ford is considering launching both a Fiesta RS and a Focus RS, though at the moment neither car is confirmed for production. That’s the claim of British publication Auto Express, citing some Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] insiders.
Ford reserves the RS designation for its most potent models. The previous Focus RS, for example, packed as much as 345 horsepower in some guises and came with a Quaife limited-slip differential. The new Focus RS was expected to follow the example of its predecessor while the new Fiesta RS was to be influenced by the Blue Oval’s most recent Fiesta RS WRC racer.
If both cars do come to market, and that’s a big if given Ford’s financial woes in Europe where the cars are to be developed, expect the Fiesta RS to be generating around 230 horsepower from its turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, up from the current Fiesta ST’s 180-horsepower rating. The car would also be fitted with commensurate suspension, brake and tire upgrades.
The Focus RS, meanwhile, would generate more than 300 horsepower from its version of the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder announced for the 2015 Mustang. Test mule spy shots showed that development of the Focus RS had started, though it now seems the production green light is yet to be given.

Has there been any update on the merger of FPV, Team RS, and SVT? Weren't they supposed to come under a new name?
