Why to change the name?

Re: Ford Puma

Not sure the name change makes much sense, especially if it came to the US with that name.

I think a name change actually makes sense. Main reason, the EcoSport has gotten such negative press.

I'd say it doesnt go with the Ford E names of suvs, but I guess we do have Maverick and Bronco coming.

EcoSport was a terrible name to begin with. I don't care what they call it, but hopefully the name does change.

Some might not be able to accept this but the updated EcoSport is actually one of the top selling subcompact SUVs in Europe. I think it's in the top 4 of 20 plus models in its segment in Europe.

Here's the funny thing, in Europe the upright Ecosport outsold models with hot hatch/ coupe-ish sloping rooflines like the Nissan Juke, Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Kia Stonic, Fiat 500X, Mazda CX-3 etc. At the end Ford will move to this look (upcoming Puma) which will probably compromise rear headroom.

Ford is working on two versions of its next subcompact crossover SUV.

The one with a longer wheelbase with five lugs (upcoming Puma?)….

…and the shorter wheelbase model with 4 lugs

*compared to the other mule, the rear wheels are closer to the door and there is no rear body extension.

Both LWB and SWB mules have the same front modifications with a raised grille opening and split-bottom openings (this is seem on the recent Puma spy photos). I guess this gives us a hint that both will have the same basic front end styling.

Re: Ford Puma

EcoSport in the short list of the best seller subcompact SUVs in Europe?

Not really

The first 4 are :

Renault Captur
Peugeot 2008
Dacia Duster
Fiat Panda

The EcoSport is not in the list of the 30 best seller cars of Europe in 2018... Only the Ford Fiesta, Focus and Kuga made this list.

The Chevy Spark-sized Fiat Panda is an A-segment car, not a B-segment car. The Fiat 500X is the B-segment Fiat CUV/SUV.

The EcoSport comes in at 6th, it's 5th place if you exclude the C-segment-sized CH-R which is a reskinned lifted Corolla hatchback.

I have some November 2018 European subcompact SUV sales figures.
Dacia Duster: 14,595 units
Peugeot 2008: 13,612 units
Renault Captur: 12,862 units
VW T-Roc: 11,074 units
Toyota CH-R: 10,693 units
Ford EcoSport: 9,476 units
Others...
Seat Arona: 8,638 units
Opel/Vauxhall Crossland X: 8,268 units
Opel/Vauxhall Mokka: 8,176 units
Hyundai Kona: 6,692 units
Fiat 500X: 6,469 units
Jeep Renegade: 6,225 units
Suzuki Vitara: 5,381 units
Mazda CX-3: 5,033 units
Citroen C4 Cactus: 4,316 units
Kia Stonic: 3,754 units
Nissan Juke: 3,621 units
Suzuki S-Cross: 2,561 units
Honda HR-V: 1,375 units
Kia Soul: 741 units (sometimes listed with CUVs/SUVs)
SsangYong Tivoli: 473 units

You say it. November. Not the entire 2018. And by November is the number 6.

Whatever, is selling well considering is a mediocre and old product designed for emerging markets. I am sure the replacement will be better.
