I disagree. I never liked the whole idea that giving a vehicle a hodgepodge gathering of letters, would encourage the owner to say "I have a Lincoln". I doubt in real life it works that way.

Not sure where you heard that, unless you're referring to the articles that said MKZ was getting discontinued, but didn't mention anything else.
guess I'm picking up bad habits from Fomoco ...& yes^

Tracer wasn't necessarily a bad name it had some history dating back to the 80s and several generations. But to the first part if MKZ is the only one getting a name change the MKC and MKX will really be out of place with an Aviator coming on board along side a Navigator.
just-imho 'Tracer' = stoopid name & quite low-rent

re: the lineup
imho we 'know' about Navi, Aviator, Conti
MKZ = bye-bye, with DIFFERENT car coming in < which if STARstang, I'm ok with LS_
if a lg-mid coupe or coupe-cabrio or 4-d-coupe, MARK is ok
(tho still like the Z-initial, Zodiac ...even with mistakenly sinister aspects)
in addition to ^all^that^, I imagine 4 (FOUR) sub-Av Cuvs:
prolley 2 roomy + 2 sporty in various sizes, Or
mini-C / Macan / X / X.2½¾row ...also toying with a LuxWilderness trail-rated idea
.

Whatever name they come up with, it shouldn't be something we can find in a dictionary.

I agree. Car companies have been doing this for ages. Legend has it that Lexus was an ingenious amalgamation of the phrase " Luxury exports to the united states. Now the word has meaning. (Although it may have been a swipe at the Germans as the German word for luxury is Luxus)

This might be an opportunity for Lincoln to get creative and make up names that define them and their brand, not necessarily names that are tied to the past. Navigator, Aviator, Continental, Mark would work well for future models but to continue to move forward as a modern brand Lincoln should try to come up with original names, perhaps using the method Lexus used.

Maybe Lincoln can use some of Cadillac's concept car names since they don't want to use them....

can charge more that way
Why is that different than MKC being bigger with something slotting under it?

And the price increase happens with every car every time they're redesigned....it's not like a jump in MKC would be any different than any other vehicle.
found a quote @ GMi that imho is along my ideas < which
I might have added has to do with PRESERVING aspects of the originally named vehicle/segment

Re: 2020 Escape

We have seen this before and it's about time. So we should have a hybrid and PHEV version.

Re: 2020 Escape

@Logans Run MK could still work for Lincoln as AMG is to Mercedes.

Midsize Sedan: Zephyr (Performance Model: MKZ)
