New F-150 Specs: Tow, Haul, mpg, etc.

https://media.ford.com/content/fordm...neup-ever.html

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 9, 2017 – Ford’s new F-150 debuts for 2018 even tougher, even smarter, and even more capable than ever – with the most advanced F-150 powertrain lineup ever that delivers best-in-class towing, payload and efficiency for America’s pickup drivers.

The new F-150 has an EPA estimated rating of 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined which is best-in-class from the second-generation 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, plus best-in-class towing (13,200 lbs.) and payload capacity (3,270 lbs.) from the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and enhanced 5.0-liter V8, respectively.

“The Ford F-150 lineup again delivers on its promise to give full-size truck customers even more value, functionality and smart technology innovations, with engines with best-in-class towing, payload and fuel economy,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Our new F-150 highlights Ford’s commitment to its hardworking truck customers and how we listen to their demands for their new F-150 to be even tougher, even smarter and even more capable for work and play.”

Three years after introducing a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy-bodied F-150, a new truck arrives with bold new styling, advanced technologies, a segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission and F-150’s most advanced engine lineup yet, which includes the first available diesel ever for F-150. F-150 is part of Ford’s F-Series truck lineup – America’s best-selling truck for 40 consecutive years and its best-selling vehicle for 35

26mpg with a 400ftlb engine that tows plenty.
OK, so when the PowerStroke Diesel numbers land, I am gonna have to guess at 30mpg or more. And certainly well North of 9K towing.

Say goodnight, competition.

The perfect truck.

I wish Ford also made the perfect sedan, the perfect crossover and the perfect luxury car... but nothing is perfect in this life.
Only the F-150...

I think the new Expedition takes care of the best large SUV, and if I were to create a comparison matrix, the Edge imo would be the best CUV....

And Mustang has it's segment covered nicely too.....

How about hot hatch.....got that covered......

Perhaps we need to define perfect however, as I have yet to see much to compete with this min SHO......

But yeah, they are a bit behind in some segments.

If only the Edge (or Lincoln MKX) achieved notably better gas mileage, I'd deem it nearly perfect for its category--practically a world beater.

On my 5th Lincoln in a row, having bought a 2019 MKZ-Hybrid Reserve II on 22 December 2018.

Use higher octane in EcoBoost engines and you'll get better mileage.

Not to rain on your parabde but I suspect that the article has mislead you.
Two things were combined in the one sentence in the release:
1. 26 MPG and 400 lbft for the 2.7 EB
2. Best in class towing of 13,200 lbs for the 3.5 EB and 5.0 V8

2.7 EB is rated to tow.....link to Ford website
7,600 with 3.15 or 3.31 rear axle and 8,500 lbs with 3.73 diff
