Ford Releases 3.0L PowerStroke Diesel Specs

As part of its most advanced engine lineup ever, the 2018 Ford F-150 will offer a much-anticipated new alternative. The new 3.0L Power StrokeŽ Turbo Diesel V6 is built on the legacy of the tried-and-true Super Duty diesel, designed to deliver outstanding power in a hard-working truck.

The new diesel F-150 is ideal for drivers who tow and haul frequently. It’s rated to deliver 11,400 lbs. maximum towing, 250 hp at 3250 RPM, and an impressive 440 lb.-ft. of torque at just 1750 rpm.

Mark your calendar. Availability is scheduled for spring 2018.

More power and torque, 10 speeds combined with much less weight than the Ram means it should not be nearly as timid in the acceleration department, and certainly capable towing too. Fuel economy should be class leading too. I am guessing at around 30mpg highway.

I recall Ram got a big sales boost when launching theirs, I wonder what this will do for the 41 year sales King.

Awesome. Hopefully it makes it into other applications, which I'm sure it will.

This was the engine developed by Land Rover in the UK when it was under Ford ownership correct? Is it still manufactured by Land Rover in the UK? I know Ford never used this engine. It's a little unusual for Ford to outsource engines this way, must have been cheaper to pay licenses and manufacturing for a lower volume application.

I guess it would have been too much change to incorporate a Hot Vee single turbo with VINT.

Nice, more power than the original 7.3 Power stroke (215HP/425TQ) in my 94 Super Duty tow truck, but now in a F150. Well done Ford!

Is this engine in any way related to the 2.7/3.0 Nano engines?

PowerStroke is revised version of Lion which is related to Ford's Duratorq family, sharing valve train and other components. It was developed and manufactured in their Dagenham Diesel center, dating back to 1999. Zero in common with Nano family.
