...no new Mustang Body style till 2025-2026(?)

"Hi guys,
A friend of mine who works at ford in the USA in the Mustang mfg plant told me he heard that ford has definitely scrapped the redesigned Mustang for 2021 and pushed it to 2025-2026. they had a big meeting there about it as its coming from the tops decision. They want to squeeze and pull a 10-12 year cycled with the 2015 body style. He heard there will be slight engine changes like hybrid around the 2021 mark but the body style is planned to stay almost the same till 2025-2026.
He said this is a fact."

Re: S650 already in planning for 2020 delivery?

It's possible the CD6 Mustang was cancelled around 2016 which had been my understanding for awhile now. That also explains why we've seen so many CVs with a 2016 end date for CD6 project managers. That lead to the assumption that CD6 was outright cancelled but it's probably just the Mustang.

It could be cost or it could be that CD6 just wasn't a good fit for Mustang in the end. This wouldn't be the first time that Mustang failed to consolidate its platform (DEW98).

Ford may be considering a different long term strategy for Mustang since it has to make the transition to electrification at some point so a NG EV platform may have to happen for that anyway.

We tested a $35,000 Mustang and a $120,000 Porsche to see which we liked better — here's the verdict

Better sound, not so hooked up, more torque in the big V8, etc...

Oh well, you had a nice run Ford! As Ford continues to move their focus towards electric there exists a very good chance that if the above is true, the current Mustang will be the last traditional V8 powered pony! If they cannot justify the investment now, I doubt they'll be able to as they get deeper into their transition towards being a mobility company.

That move alone could kill my enthusiasm for Ford!

Re: S650 already in planning for 2020 delivery?

Mustang has had a very up and down history at Ford but it always perseveres and adapts. We are definitely in a Mustang golden age, but Mustang has spent most of it's recent history as a nostalgic relic with no substance. It wasn't until Mustang Globalization and Camaro finally motivated them to make it a truly great modern sports car. I still think they are incentivized to keep it up and it's quite possible CD6 simply didn't meet expectations. Mustang is an impossibly affordable sports car and I imagine that's a hard one to balance...ask GM.

Mustang still has a good modernized platform to work with, they keep breathing new life into it so who knows how far they can take it with enough facelifts and tech upgrades. Ford generally has very long lifecycles for their products anyway, 8-10 years is pretty typical with MCEs in the middle. Remember the Mustang before it was 9 years old (2005-2014).

Hackett is a genius. The problem with Ford today is that the line up is too old (Escape/Focus/Edge/Fusion/Explorer ), so he decided to fix it canceling the updates of that old line of vehicles!

If some one here own Ford shares, sell them!

That's not accurate from what I've read from posters with reliable sources elsewhere.

Current Vehicles:
2009 Ford Flex Limited w/ AWD
Light Ice Blue/White Suede Roof | Med. Lt. Stone Interior | Vista Roof
2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Lightning Blue | Black Top | Black Interior

Everything we read is just hearsay because Wings is being greedy and keeping all that inside information for himself!

If it's no obvious, I'm kidding.

I agree. I think Ford had to make a forward thinking decision and get the NG Mustang on an Hybrid/PHEV/EV platform now, because if not it would be like 2030 until it happened, and Mustang would be a relic.
