Evidence Surfacing That 5.0 Is Returning in 2011

FORD BRINGING BACK ICONIC 5.0 BADGE ON THE 2011 MUSTANG?
NEW EVIDENCE UNCOVERED - PART NUMBER FOR NEW 5.0 BADGE FOUND ALONG SIDE SAME INFO FOR NEW 3.7 LITRE

I want to kick this off with a notice. This report is based on speculation.

Reported today on Autoblog.com, is the continuing rumor that Ford's new "Coyote" 5.0 Liter V8 is going to find it self under the hood of the 2011 Mustang. Autoblog's article continues with information discovered in Ford's Parts Catalog by a member of TheMustangSource known only as "KC". "KC" also discovered the parts numbers and info leaking that the 3.7 Liter V6 would be replacing the stale 4.0 which was reported a few days ago.

"KC" and Autoblog now report that in the same parts catalog, the part number for a new "5.0" badge has been discovered and gives more credence that the 5.0 "Coyote" V8 is destined for the Mustang.

For exactly what Autoblog and "KC" have to say, check out the article by clicker here.

Or you can read the quoted article below...

Return of the 5.0 Part Deux: 5.0 badge returning on 2011 Mustang GT
by Damon Lavrinc on Jun 18th 2009 at 12:34PM

The Ford Mustang 5.0 has been gone for some time, but with the new 32-valve, 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 on its way, the badge could make a comeback and undoubtedly it'll be more successful than Vanilla Ice's past attempts.

After some digging through Ford's parts database, a forum member at TheMustangSource came across a "5.0" badge and an accompanying part number that could find itself attached to the 2011 Ford Mustang. Supposedly, KC also found listings for three new engine/transmission combos for 2011: the 3.7-liter V6 reported earlier (with both auto and manual gearboxes), a 5.0-liter (with the same transmission options) and a supercharged 5.4-liter. Although we're treating this with a healthy bit of skepticism, it doesn't seem beyond the pale, and if Van Winkle plays his cards right, maybe Ford will tap him for the marketing campaign. Thanks for the tip Matt!

Yeah, ever since the 5.0 was spotted under development...everyone has buzzed about the return of the 5.0.

Hence why it starts off with "The continuation of the rumor"...

Thanks though!

the coyote V8 has been spotted in mustang testers in the past but the revelation of the possible connection to the return of the 5.0 model is a recent development. It's Deja Vu for me cause we had a early 90's 5.0 model in our repair garage earlier today

If Ford wanted to, they could add 2 turbochargers to the 5.0 and replace the old 5.4 liter, however amazing it may be. Will this replace the naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter in the F-150 and Expedition?

It is known that besides the mustang the coyote V8 will also be in base model 2011 F-150's (I'm not sure about expedition models at the moment) and it would be awesome if they did put two turbos on it as a possible 5.4 liter replacement but Ford is probably going to hold on to that engine for a few more years before replacing it

Is this Engine a OHV or a DOHC. If its a DOHC its going to be massive in size. If its OHV, ford can start to catch up with HEMI and small block.

It'll be a DOHC engine

From what I've read it is another DOHC. Personally, I think Ford is continuing a mistake they made back in 1996, which was removing the OHV engine from the Mustang. I've worked as a mechanic and in the performance industry for awhile and new 5.0 or not, unless Ford goes back to an OHV engine they'll never see GT sales as high as they were in the late 80's to 1995.
