Re: Cougar

absolutely nothing recent, Saintl1

years ago read they wouldn't do one until Merc sales reached a certain level < that's been made meaningless by the the whole Lincoln-Volume & Small-Merc plans
& a rumor that a Cougar prototype was supposed to show up at some nationwide Cougar-meet... think that was summer of '06 & never heard anything after it...

Re: Cougar

if they just made a concept based on the mustang it would be hit at any show.

Re: Cougar

Personally I think a future Cougar should be a FWD/AWD coupe/hardtop convertible based on C2 or CD4/EUCD2. It should have only I4's with futuristic styling unlike the classic styling (but not necessarily retro) of the mustang. It should have a base 2.5I4-171hp, with an uplevel 1.6I4 EcoBoost I4 for 200hp, and a Sport or XR7 model with a 2.5I4 EcoBoost with 275-300 hp and standard AWD. Make it cool and inexpensive to compete with the Scion TC.

Re: Cougar

I wouldnt be opposed to a Milan based Cougar 2 door. But I think it would have to compete with Solora type cars

Re: Cougar

With Ford, Chevy, Dodge all having near retro cars, I would like is a look alike '67 Cougar. The Pontiac GTO was a modern day muscle car. The power was there but looks failed and sales tank. Maybe somebody can make up a drawing of a modern 2012? Cougar. I can't picture one in mind. The mustang & Challenger both come close to cloning the originals. I would like the same for the Cougar. The only thing I don't want on the Cougar is the retractable headlights.

Re: Cougar

^ tho the '67-'68 is my favorite overall style of Cougar, would rather have
a modern-tho-very-close re-interpretation than a 'xerox'

(...they don't hafta be designed like the old ones - more like: Invisible/now-you-see-them-now-you-don't...

and have been advocating that Merc gets one (along with a bunch of other stuff!)

Re: Cougar

If ford wants to revive the Cougar name it must be a real Cougar with V8 engine and to be Rear wheel drive .

We want a real Cougar :

Re: Cougar

^ I agree Mercury 1988, although the last generation Cougar (1999-2002) was a great little car it just didn't deserve the Cougar name. My opinion only.
