Speaking of which is Ford working on updating the 2.0 or a new 2.0 EcoBoost? I feel like it is down on HP compared to others but seems to match on torque.

Cool [Poll For Fun] Lincoln SPORT-Line: "LSL"

* bump *

looking at ToyLex numbers & threads (esp @ GMI), it's OBVIOUS that any # increase is from NEW MODELS, not an Ftrim ... tho perhaps the F-Sport does help them prevent a huge FAIL? =

WHAT would a not-real-performance Lincoln-SportyLine be like?

imho, mainly a 'style statement' exterior appearance pkg?:
think starting no more than half the increase of [BL] / couple thou$**
- black chrome?
- also^ for rocker-trim (+/or bodypaint)
- mesh grille inserts? (Thanks Cadillack)
- bright-yet-rich paint COLORs (EliteFlame & Notorious²)
- matching painted brake-calipers
- space-age-Tech titanium interior trim (like Contichrome)
- maybe with just the less warm&cozy interior themes?
- alcantara/dinamica/clarino/ultrasuede steeringwheel?
...
- & maybe available only on the already-top drivetrain?
- re-edit: wonder if the LincolnDriveControl could have an extra LSL setting?
- special tire selection

- edit/forgot:
howzabout a unique/light LSL wheel design that (considering lack of volume) would be the same for every model?
(tho not mandatory = CHOICE *is* the Greatest Luxury!)
?muffler bypass valves? or just low-restriction catback?

- re-re-edit: from Audi-googling...1...2...
LED HLs included + distinct TLs
magnesium engine compartment cross-member
unique front lower-fascia and "exhaust outlets"
more aggressive aero-fX (functional-only!)
special brakes/pads
- - - - - - -
Recaro?-style? (instead of 22-way or headrest-DVDs°°)
- - - - - - -
needless to say: RS-inspired Awd tho that's getting too [RL] imho
ditto: 1st availability of 9-speed tranny?
- - - - - - -
Is there such a thing as (partially) see-thru carbonfibre?
...ultralite moonroof panel(s) instead of a top-heavy Vista/PanoRoof!

nother Q:
WHAT IF the MKZ's 2.7EB was only available on [BL] & LSL?
thinking of LSL as a near-Select-equivalent with simplified-yet-extensive goodies/pkgs/opts that would go upto most of°° Reserve's;
not sure about Revel Ultima (would NOT want a loaded LSL to Equal a base [BL]...necessarily)
maybe for the MKX it'd be the 3.0EB?

...I'm talking myself into this, Jose!

** anyone know how much F-Sport add$??
finally made myself look at lexus.com ,
the price difference for
IS 350 Rwd
vs IS350 F-Sport Rwd = +$3,155
IS 350 Awd
vs IS350 F-Sport Awd = +$2,715
Rwd:
opt >> std heated front seats
opt >> std electronic parking aid - camera
bi-xenon HID >> LED HLs
VR AllSeason >> YR performance tires
Awd:
opt >> std electronic parking aid - camera
bi-xenon HID >> LED HLs
VR AllSeason >> YR AllSeason tires
"Chassis performance in our F SPORT models is enhanced through purpose-built suspension, brakes, steering and wheels giving a new depth of driver involvement and control..."

re: couple thou$**
that'd be in addition to an upcharge for the engine&Awd
estimating
2.7EB MKZ-LSL = $43k base, [BL] equiv. $52
3.0EB MKX-LSL = $48k base, [BL] equiv. $58

Re: [Poll For Fun] Lincoln Performance Line

I was surprised that when the new Continental concept was introduced, it did not come with 'Blue Label'.
and I thought that the Lincoln people were scotch drinkers...

Lincoln’s Chief Designer: We Don’t Want to Follow the Germans
C&D - blog

January 14, 2016 at 6:24 pm by Jens Meiners

...We spent some time with the brand’s chief designer David Woodhouse, a Brit by birth but who has a deep understanding for American-style luxury...

...
while Cadillac has ... tried to beat the Germans at their own game of building superior performance sedans, Lincoln will not follow that path. You won’t find front splitters, carbon-ceramic brakes, or performance-data recorders on a Lincoln. “We are an American brand and decidedly don’t want to imitate the Germans,” says Woodhouse.

And he adds: “We want to be very discreet and therefore won’t display engine sizes on our cars.” Instead, the Continental is all about luxury and style, epitomized by the unique chrome door handles, which, in his words, “emphasize elegance and ease of operation.” And the company decided to make the rear compartment spacious enough that it, unlike Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, sees no need to create a long-wheelbase derivative for the Chinese market...

imho there's a BIG DIFF between following the Germans or trying to BE German
&
rekindling the desire for Performance that's Never been completely absent

Re: [Poll For Fun] Lincoln Performance Line

I've always liked "XR" for Lincoln's sports models. (Reminds me of the beautiful Cougar XR-7 without going there 100%)

Re: [Poll For Fun] Lincoln Performance Line

IMHO, all Lincolns should be loaded. A small list of really special factory-installed options (not option packages and not dealer-installed) that each buyer can order. Then Lincoln should support a lively aftermarket for those who want even more. With luxury, there should not be a beginners model.

Audi RS model range to double by 2018

Autocar
- 10 November 2016

With a current range of 7 models, Audi RS boss has revealed the range will increase to 15 models by early 2018...

...has vowed to develop RS in a different direction from that of AMG, whose sales are soaring.

“We are not going to do what they do,” Stephan Winkelmann the division’s new boss, said. “We have a lot of plans but are not revealing them yet. It is better to under-promise and over-deliver.”

...While AMG has doubled its sales over the past couple of years to 80,000 units, Audi may break through the 20,000-unit level this year...

Re: [Poll For Fun] Lincoln Performance Line

I think Lincoln will play in that game once the first model riding on the new architecture is launched. Hopefully it's the coupe that rides on a version of the new Mustangs platform, that gives Lincoln a true flagship luxury performance coupe and convertible(Lincoln's competition for the SL) that other models can share performance attibributes with. Talk about getting younger buyers into the showrooms. Then bring on the next gen RWD/AWD MKZ luxury performance sedan, that may just be a 4 door version of the flagship coupe/convertible. Letting the Continental be the large sedan, with a new larger sedan topping the range.
