I'd be fine with that. Hope it's true.

haha my thoughts exactly!! I'm reading some of these post about the production design and im just like

We can talk about what we see but shouldnt we hold judgement until we see the car without camo? Everyone did this with the MKC when it was in camo, so many gripes until it was actually released and then it was "Oh, we like it!"

The camo doesn't hide the fact that the dash to axle length is considerably shorter on the mule than it is on the (undriveable) concept. The Continental Concept doesn't have to conform to the CD4 platform's hard points so the designers were able to sculpt better proportions. Unfortunately, it looks as if the production Continental will have the ungainly, large front overhang that mars the design of all large FWD-based cars.

Just as I thought, the helium will be sucked out of Lincoln's balloon as soon as the next-gen Taurus is offered and the badge-engineering debate will continue. What will the Continental offer luxury car shoppers that the Taurus won't have besides moderately different bodywork?

For me, the RWD-based CD6 platform for Lincoln can't come soon enough.

I'm not ready to concede the Concept having better proportions

I'm actually MUCH more curious about the lowest-priced, base Conti interior!!

Re: 2017 Lincoln Continental Prototypes Spotted

CD6 is likely the next gen Explorer/Aviator SUV platform, not a new car platform. We just got a new large sedan platform this week and Lincoln is another year away from getting it on the street. Besides, the original source and leak said CD6 was for an SUV.

The Continental/MKS, as it has been since the 80's, is a car based on a Ford sedan (usually named Taurus). I'm not sure what people were expecting, the Concept has a healthy amount of fiction like most concepts which intentionally change the fundamental proportions of the ordinary production car to make them look more dramatic. Lincoln has done this with every concept.

Borg is right. I think some of you just expect too much of Ford. 40 years of reading car magazines and watching the industry has taught me to set moderate expectations of Ford.

I really have no issue with this car sharing it's platform with the Taurus, it's the details that will truly differentiate it. Most reports indicate the Continental will be AWD only and several publications have even stated it would use a version of the Focus RS AWD system, so at least possibility to be rear biased.
