The MKZ is a **** fine car, but it's relatively small, put the Continental around $42500-45000 in base form and it should sell well, assuming it carries over from concept to production well. Top of the line Black Label with executive treatment up to the low $70K's.

Seriously, D... a... m... n... is off limits?

Re: What price should the Continental $tart at?

[email protected] I shoulda included the exact $5k choices: 40,45,50,55,60
or sumthin (since that woulda been more than 10 choices)

edit: fudged an added $1 to the first post prices

5-Series starts at $50k and E-Class starts at $52k.

Cadillac of late has had an issue with overpricing their vehicles, so I would not use the $53k or the outrageous $83k as a measurement for what the New Continental would cost.

Re: What price should the Continental $tart at?

^ that $83,465 is a Platinum without any opts/pkgs
not even extra-charge Paints afaik,
will definitely go over $100k fully loaded

I'm wondering what would happen if the Conti ONLY offered the 3.0EB?

also IF any lesser PETROL engine came with a bundle of batteries:
- 2.7v6 Hybrid . . . . . . . (LOWest priced)
- 2.3 Plug In Hybrid . . . (mid- or equal to 3.0EB)
&
thus
be higher status than the bait'n'switch, loss-leader CT6

CT6 2.0 Turbo –– $53,495 <<
CT6 3.6v6 Awd –––$55,495
CT6 3.0TT Awd –––$64,395
CT6 Platinum ––– $83,465
so
Conti 2.7 Hybrid Fwd -- $44,990
Conti 3.0EB (TT) Awd - $53,495 <<

glad I automatically included the OTHER choice
.

Personally I think Lincoln should undercut Cadillac's CT6 price by about $5k. Sure we don't want the new Continental to come across as anything less than ultra luxurious. However, the flip side is you have to get people back into Lincoln showrooms. I agree with Bloggin, Cadillac has been overpricing their cars and they simply are not selling. Lincoln should not repeat this error. (IMHO)

Re: What price should the Continental $tart at?

^ what shocks-almost me is the HUGE-spread of pricing for the CTsixes
= able to buy 2 (TWO) base-strippo's or 1 (One) fully-loaded, P-trim
OF THE SAME CAR
for the same $$$,$$$.##
thinking Caddy is trying to do too much with the same model...
...not doing ENUF to competently plan their overall lineup!

re-copying the post you copied, Andrew

I am shocked on the pricing honestly. I thought it would be higher. Now I am curious how Lincoln will price the Continental.

Just for comparisons sake

ATS - 33,215
XTS - 45,295
CTS - 45,560
CT6 - 53,495
ATSV - 60,456
CT6P - 83,465
CTSV - 83,995
remember ^^^ base prices before opts/sub-pkgs
so
MOST of the CT6 range is completed overlapped by In-House Competitors
which-imho can be fine if planned that way
BUT
seems to me the model-designers had no overall plan to even work from

The base Continental should be $45,000, same as the XTS.

so
would that still be an Awd 3.0EB? or
how would you limit its content for that price?
