Will the MKS and Continental be Sold Side-by-Side?

I have an interesting question: will the MKS and Continental be sold side-by-side?

Lincoln has a bit of a history of doing this. In the mid-2000's, the LS and Zephyr/MKZ were sold side-by-side for about a year. Later, the MKS and Town Car were also side by side for a few years. It's kind of interesting how Lincoln has a history of selling two nameplates, one being a predecessor, side-by-side.

apparently not as con-current models, DEQ

I saw & of course posted dates today in the OG thread

looks like MKS ends June 3, 2016
and afaik the Conti most likely won't have its Job1 by then

Thanks for the answer. I'm not too terribly heartbroken about the MKS leaving the lineup.

In my opinion the MKS was a good enough car but it just never caught on with people. I personally really liked the 09 - 12 MKS but they pretty much ruined the look of the car with that awful grille with the 13 makeover.

I'll always believe the MKS would have faired much better had it been an all new Mercury Sable instead of being Lincoln's flagship sedan. But unfortunately that's all in the Ford history books now.

That's true.

The current MKS got less attractive with each and every facelift.

There was the sports-edition which really looked good....

Re: Will the MKS and Continental be Sold Side-by-Side?

afaik the MKS only had one (disastrous imho, yet minor-)facelift
while
the Zephyr/MKZ had, iirc, 4 (FOUR, not counting the Z'17) including a whole-new platform

this is another Lincoln-Mercury car, like the TownCar/MGM) that I would LOVE to put thru a custom re-do...
...at the level of Foose/Coddington!!

Yeah, the original MKS was an attractive car, but thee update was a massively failed opportunity.

Re: Will the MKS and Continental be Sold Side-by-Side?

The interior packaging was the biggest issue for the MKS, the 2013 update didn't help either. And it's just in a dying segment so you have to be very compelling to stay relevant. And the MKS has never been a good looking product, it's tall bloated dimensions were never appealing. The D2/3 products were very poorly planned and executed products from day 1 and they never got it right.
