LUX competitors PIE Charts

spurred by a convo over the weekend at Cheers&Gears (I lurk) largely about exclusivity issues,
thought it'd be "interesting" to do some pie charts for the 3 Lux brands whose sales numbers depend (more or less) on FWD platforms...
...imho Audi is a special case** so didn't do them but if someone would like to add it-or-others: Great!
(don't have excel at home)

I colorized the charts in PaintShopPro to make Fwd-based, Rwd-based, & (afaik) 4wd distinct at a glance,
using numbers from threads in the Monthly Sales Results section
** I'm basically avoiding the AWD issue for now

adding a Link to @Andrew L 's full "Luxury Brand Sales, past 10 years" thread for future reference

Re: LUX competitors PIE Charts

Nice charts!
I'd love to see one done for transaction prices 30-40K, 40-50K, 50-70K, above 70K as a percent of sales.

ty & WISH! we had access ATPs (also WISH they'd use ATPs for advertising rather than Loss-Leader strippo &-never-on-the-lot prices)

my first 'read' of the charts is that there's a HECK'o LOT of blue or blue-green in ALL of 'em!!

second, is this superimposed version I (tried to make/)made with the AREAs of the Pies adjusted to show Volume (not diameters)

Re: LUX competitors PIE Charts

Note, Cadillac and Lincoln similarity, around 76% of sales are locked up in their respective top three three models
Cadillac - SRX, Escalade & XTS
Lincoln - MKC, MKZ, MKX

Both brand have potential for expansion in fourth model (ATS & Navigator) The point being that focusing on
volume sellers is also critical to brand building and customer appreciation.

Rule No. 1 - Always, always, play to your strengths.

And the strengths of Cadillac are not the RWD sedans... no matter how good they looks on paper, the customers dont want to buy them.

On one aspect Cadillac is 'killing' Lincoln, on the other it isn't.
Cadillac = 175,267
Lincoln = 101,227

But if you notice at Cadillac..................
Models that won't (or shouldn't) be there in a year; (ELR, SRX & XTS) = 92,986 (or 53%)

Then do the same thing at Lincoln.............
Models that won't (or shouldn't) be there in a year; (MKS, MKT ) = 11,573 (or 11%)

In Summary; Cadillac's sales are built on weakness (soon discontinued or obsolete models), where Lincoln's are built on strength (new/on-going models)
subtracting^ (just for fun)
Cadillac = 82,281
Lincoln = 89,654

hmm... just thought of a different circular chart to maybe try
where each Brand is given a third of the circle (120°)...
...sort of a "spider-pie"...
(yum?)
might try that with Feb numbers:

Then again, the SRX is being directly replaced by a similar type of crossover, the XT5, which has the potential to do well.

Re: LUX competitors PIE Charts

Ta Daaaaahhhhhhhhh
I really like this PIE ...but it was too much tedious/work to do every month - next End of Year or maybe first-half...

once again (hopefully) the AREA is proportional to Volume
& also notice how much of Lexoid & Caddy are on mainstream platforms, once again, as usual

dunno how the price will change BUT
they ARE throwing away an established '''name''' for one that has the added job of initiating a whole new alphabet soup tureen

&
re: Cuvs & the PIE^,
RX and ES used to EACH be about 1/3 of total sales
wonder if the new-ish NX is stealing ES customers?...
...as we discussed, since the next size smaller Cuv can have about as much room (dunno if true of Lexoid)
then
[connection] just noticed, All the best sellers are midsize CUVS: just 4.4% separates highest from lowest proportion
[dis-connect] Lincoln & Lexoid's #2 is a midsize sedan, while Caddy depends a LOT on the Escalades... (I'm wondering if AVIATOR will boost Lincoln by as much as 25% all by itself? = another Z-like volume)
&
hmm... Lexoid's FLAGSHIP barely broke 1 (ONE) present?
even Lincoln's MKT got 3%

Re: LUX competitors PIE Charts

Cadillac's SRX and big profit margin Escalade is keeping Cadillac alive! There sedans are not selling without huge incentives! CTS, ATS total loosers for Cadillac both in sales and profit margin!
