Could it be to initially maximize the fuel economy when launching the new 8-speed with auto stop-start?

Yeah, it is a strange decision, especially considering the current base engine (the 3.7) has 303-hp. And now that'll drop to 245. Perhaps they wanted to create a larger separation between the two engines? Because the 2.7T has 335-hp. The new engine creates a 90-hp gap between the two.

Perhaps. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3.0T added at some point.

Re: 2019 Lincoln Nautilus

"Also debuting (on Nautilus) is Evasive Steer Assist, which uses radar and cameras to analyze the gap between slower-moving and stationary vehicles on the road ahead to lessen the risk of a rear-end collision. If the risk is high and there is insufficient space to avoid a collision by braking, the system helps the driver steer around the vehicle."

NetCarShow finally has the v.f.k.a.X
The three Lincoln Black Label themes for the new Nautilus are Chalet, Thoroughbred and all-new Gala:

• Chalet, new for Lincoln Nautilus, evokes the contrasting pleasures of pulse-pounding mountain slopes and the inherent comfort of an après-ski lodge. With Espresso and Alpine Venetian leathers and deep Silverwood appliqués, each touch is designed to awaken the senses
• Thoroughbred celebrates the distinguished and elite lifestyle of horse racing, offering a reflection of traditional American history. Rich Venetian leathers capture the spirit of the equestrian life, while Chilean Maple wood, Alcantara® accents and Jet Black trim carry the excitement throughout
• Gala, inspired by haute couture at New York's Met Gala, features seats draped in a deeply hued and elegant Carmine leather complemented by Onyx leather and an Alcantara headliner. Handsome Nouveax(sp?) Armor aluminum accents bring a lightness to the cabin, with a luster magnified by the available panoramic roof

Personalized elegance
The distinctive design of Lincoln Nautilus aligns with the rest of the Lincoln family, presenting a strong, bold signature grille. The midsize utility vehicle maintains its unique, sleek shape, offering a harmonious aesthetic and aerodynamic efficiency. A new wheel selection allows clients to order a Lincoln Nautilus to suit their personal style

Power is delivered courtesy of three technologies – turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing.

A standard estimated 245-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is efficient and smooth in operation. Both engines include standard Auto Start-Stop capability, plus an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Sadly no 3.0l T but finally the 8 speed

I wonder why they'd give the weaker selling and smaller MKZ the 3.0 but not the MKZ.
And why not the 2.3 instead of the 2.0...?

But either way I love this update!! I wish they would've done more to freshen up the interior but other than that they did a great job! Continental, Navi, and Nautilus are hits in my book!

Re: 2019 Lincoln Nautilus

I'll go on record and say the new Nautilus has the best exterior design Lincoln has to offer right now. The Nav and Cont are nice but fall short in a few places... specifically the rear ends on both of them but they nailed the Nautilus. I love it.

Re: 2019 Lincoln Nautilus

Most of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive except on Jalopnik who mention the Edge name more than the Nautilus(MKX). The biggest complaint appears to be that they didn't update the center console to the new one from the Continental and Navigator especially the piano keys. The biggest compliment is changing the name from MKX to Nautilus.

from the Autoblog article:

"Parker also told a story about being stuck in a shuttle recently at the Detroit airport with a couple on the way to retrieve their Lincoln MKC. "A couple were engaged in a very heated debate over the name of their car because they were trying to tell the shuttle driver which car they were driving, and they got caught up in this alphabet challenge," he said. "And it just really punctuated the challenge for me.
"It's not just an internal discussion, this is real. People have a hard time, that don't work and do this every single day, they have a hard time, numbers, letters, we get sometimes, ad marketeers, too far over our skis."

You see a lot of commenters challenging Cadillac to bring back names.

Good job Lincoln!
