From Autoblog:

Lincoln Corsair reportedly on track for 2020 as replacement for MKC
That's a year sooner than previously thought

Last month we told you how Lincoln was considering renaming the MKC crossover as the Corsair. Now, a report suggests that the MKC replacement is on track for 2020, a year ahead of schedule. Ford Authority reports the accelerated timeline, citing unnamed sources.

Ford reportedly told dealers at a meeting this spring in Orlando it was considering Lincoln Corsair as the crossover's new name, but that it could change its mind before it went into production as a 2021 model. The accelerated development of the Corsair ó or whatever its final name may be ó might be a result of Ford's recent decision to do away with sedans and double down on hot-selling crossovers, SUVs and pickups.

Ford Authority's sources tell it that Lincoln is borrowing elements including the mirrors, front fenders, tail lights and wide stance from the Aviator Concept that it unveiled in March in New York City. The Aviator was teased with a plug-in hybrid powertrain option, and given Ford's plans to electrify its lineup, it's entirely possible the Corsair will follow that path as well.

Lincoln is slowly moving away from its MK alphanumeric naming system, adopting instead exotic travel-themed nomenclature (think Continental, Nautilus and Navigator). In this case, an actual "corsair" was a pirate ship popular along the southern Mediterranean from the 16th through the 18th centuries. Ford also already owns the name Corsair, so that helps.

The MKC is Lincoln's strongest-selling vehicle in China, where the brand has seen explosive growth tapping into the droves of newly created wealthy carbuyers. In the United States, Lincoln sold 27,048 MKCs in 2017, making it the brand's third-best selling model behind the MKZ sedan and MKX crossover (soon to be renamed the Nautilus). For the first half of 2018, it had sold 12,289 units, which was down 8.7 percent from the prior-year period.

Nothing really "new" but at least someone, somewhere is stirring things up for Lincoln.

I'm a sedan kind of guy but I have to admit, I like the Aviator. Maybe its because I'm a retired pilot but I think it's really the RWD proportions and the gently sloped roofline which was really a Ford thing but now associated with Land Rover.

I liked the MKC from the beginning but the MKC/Corsair could use a more aggressive shape like the Aviator. I hope they minimize the eyebrows over the wheels and allow the designers more room to play around with the new grille.

Would give Lincoln fans and aficionados something to chew on for a while, and maybe get some positive buzz about Lincoln in the industry press. Lincoln has to do a really good job on those two vehicles (well, all of them, actually) if it wants to build on the pretty solidly positive press garnered by the Navigator.
It would also take away from each model individually - you'd have less coverage on each model. They'll likely be shown at separate events (whether it be its own event or an auto show).

We really need a stand alone facility, it helps the brand. I remember the old days of American luxury where you went to Lincoln or Cadillac to see and compare the best.

Re: No Love at Ford; No Love at FIN

Lincoln averages maybe one new or heavily refreshed product a year,
try running a Lincoln dealership with that sort of tardy product cadence...

The collapse of Lincoln sales in China is symptomatic of Lincoln's buyers
returning to see basically the same products as they have while competitors
generally have much newer offerings.

Until Lincoln becomes more than a part time project for Ford, it will remain
a curiosity of potentially great products if you could get them new and fresh
and all at the same time...

They have 6 products. They're supposed to have a new one every year? So you'd rather several debut in one year and nothing new for years until the next group comes out? They're getting 2 new models for 2020 in Aviator and Corsair.

Um......Lincoln sales are up 5% for the year in China? Not spectacular, but I'd hardly call that a "collapse".

Lincoln should have more than 6 products. Lincoln has nothing that Ford does not have. You'll say Conti but that's only a Taurus redone.

Sad for what should be a luxury marque.

Re: No Love at Ford; No Love at FIN

"One Ford" would have axed Lincoln as well as Mercury, save - as I understand it - for last minute heroics by Fields. Lincoln exists only because GM still has Cadillac. For Ford to dwindle to one brand while GM prospered with four would have been too bitter a pill to swallow.

However, with Ford retreating from its traditional markets (for reasons which are entirely their fault), can Lincoln survive? There is no Lincoln pickup and no Lincoln coupe. Their offerings are still gussied-up Fords no matter their inherent, evident goodness. They could have offered something Ford didn't have; a RWD 4-door luxo/sport sedan based on Mustang but Ford declined (might have been too good for Lincoln, just like DEW98 was). Lincoln just raised the bar with the Navigator, a far superior product, but couldn't put a dent in Escalade sales.

I love the new Lincoln products but I'm not in the market for any of them. There are millions of potential customers who are not in the market for them. Lincoln can compete with what they have and what they're getting but can Lincoln grow?

So far, the answer is obvious. NO.
