And moot point, most people tow ~3000lbs...your argument is dumb and restricted to a tiny piece of the [email protected] average one could simply buy a 2020 Highlander V6 that has the same towing capacity without the need for a hybrid....hybrids are supposed to be efficient, this one is not.

You are not too bright. Sales on the bottom end will remain, all while Ford offers more premium OPTIONS while grabbing uscale sales, including hybrids, in a more premium, RWD large SUV.....not a Camry derived snooze wagon. And guess what happens when your ATP moves so far upward? Yup.

Re: 2020 Lincoln Aviator First Drive

If sales of Explorer are a bit less, I would chalk that up to adding the Aviator on the same line. I think both will be sales and profit successes.
If I did buy an Explorer, first thing I'd do is install a grill guard to cover up the front.
By the time I am ready to buy again, I will not need three rows, so Bronco is looking like my best option.

Bronco and Aviator will indeed steal right from Explorer, being two all new entrants. Ford recognizes that, and given the choice of increasing TOTAL sales and TOTAL profits.......or maintaining sales champ crown by offering them cheap........yeah, that much is easy. But malaka boy can't understand how business works. Also too, Jeep sales will be hurting.

Looks like the press drives should be happening later this month. Also, the power numbers are better than originally released.

494/630 is pretty epic. Our CT6 PHEV does the qtr at 105 with a 2.0L turbo. I’d expect the Aviator to beat it easily, depending on aero. That is seriously fast.

Thanks for the link:

"We were told at last year's L.A. Auto Show that the base 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 would make 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Lincoln's spec sheet shows itís still going to make 400 horsepower, but the torque figure is now up to 415 pound-feet. The plug-in hybrid model has received an even larger bump to its ratings. Lincoln said it would be 450 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque combined, but itís actually going to be 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. We were a bit slack-jawed at the numbers before, and this just takes it one step further."

That's a noticeable increase, specially for every trim above the base.
$2,275 increase for the XLT (base)
$5,365 increase for the Limited

I think it's a good SUV but I have to admit, they are getting pricey.

The Aviator is definitely an impressive luxury SUV.

Thanks for the info.

But remember, Aviator more or less equals Explorer.

The new Explorer, in its upscale versions, is on par and perfectly competitive with its direct rival: The Cadillac XT6

The Aviator will figth the Germans and Land Rover

...in Europe it definitely is. The Explorer over there presumably gets the same 494/630 setup.
