Input/Suggestions ...redux#1

NOT to rush any changes but
since the not-so-old "We'd Appreciate Your Input" thread seems to have gone
- missing
- deleted
- to a garbage dump (actually, NO, I looked)
- not in the Wayback-Internet-Archive either (checked there too)
Here's a new copy of my forum layout suggestion

Ford Inside News
- FIN Headline News*
- Members' Scoops* (article submissions)
- Autoshow Coverage
- Site News & Help/Questions & Feedback/Suggestions

* both would hold threads temporarily before moved to permanent placement
(imho, more isn't needed up top - no reason to carbon-copy GMI)

General Discussion Zone
- Gasoline Alley (automotive topics)
[to be filled with existing, appropriate 'general' or multi-brand threads that are in many sections]
--- Sales #'s [not just Fomoco]
--- FIN & Members' Reviews & Rides [not just Fomoco]
--- other Professional Reviews & Comparos [not just Fomoco]
--- Design-Idea Showcase [not just Fomoco]
--- Vintage/Historic Perspectives [not just Fomoco]
- The Cantina (anything friendly or even silly, no politics)
- Diablo's Den (A.Y.O.R., taboos & politics ok)

FoMoCo Topics
- OneFord Corporate/Global
[merge Mullaly Watch since he's more down-low now]
--- Ford Employee Forum
--- Motorsports
--- Recalls
- Powertrains & EcoBoost
- Alternative Fuels & Power-Systems
- E-Tech, My_Touch, SYNC
- Open Letters to Ford

FoMoCo Vehicles
- Ford Cars
- Ford SUVs, CUVs, MPVs
- Ford Trucks
- Mustang
- Mercury
- Lincoln
- FoMoCo Vehicles Elsewhere
--- FoE
--- FAu
--- Ford RotW (Rest-of-the-World)
[separate Ford-China if/when needed - or Now?]
____and [separate S.A. & Troller?]

--- Mazda

Competition Zone
- GM Global
- Chrysler,Dodge,Jeep
[maybe Fiat too?]
- other NA companies
- former FoMoCo brands
[+ Volvo]
- other Euro brands
- from Across the Pacific

- If the new "SHOWROOM" section continues as a stand alone, I'd suggest having its subsections raised from sub-forum status so each most-current thread title shows
- I like the new Section descriptors BUT don't understand having 2 Lincoln Sections - never agreed with trying to separate News & Discussion (or Rumors)
- looking forward, imho rather than another section, "COMMENTARIES" could just go in the appropriate Discussion Zone sections: Gasoline Alley, The Cantina, Diablo's Den; ...at least for the foreseeable future.
- I believe we need to keep Diablo's Den with its allowed politics available. When I did a search for
https://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums...highlight=joke
it came up as under SHOWROOM; but IN that section Diablo's doesn't appear

Re: Input/Suggestions ...redux#1

I suspect some threads were lost during the shuffle the other day. One of my goals with the revision was to reduce the amount of forums. It looks bad having forums with <100 posts or forums that rarely get used. To visitors it makes the site look outdated and dead.

The point of having a separate news and discussion section will become more clear going forward. As we up the amount of unique content on the site, it is imperative that our own stuff be front and center (to give the site a unique look). For example, I don't like the idea of having a Ford forum and our 2011 Fiesta review being posted next to a forum with someone asking if the Taurus has a/c seats. It's just messy.

Re: Input/Suggestions ...redux#1

I would like to have a sub-forum for sales like over at GMI.

Also, we need a "Troller and Jiangling Motors Discussion" much like GMI has a one with Wuling and other small Gm brands.

Hey 2b2. the Vintage Ford section needs to remain as it is, not for every maker (the can do another one for that if they want).

That's were I am planing to spend most of my time.
