Wonder if anyone can pinpoint a reason for the bulk of the casualties being U.S. brands. I nominate:

Candidate #1 - Greater focus on Wall Street (quarterly earnings & share prices) than on product development.

Any others?

Re: the END?

FCA would probably like to keep the Challenger, the sedans are just along for the ride to keep the factory humming. But I don't see those products sustaining further investment. These could be the new Panthers, just plugging away with facelifts (which is way more than the Panther got).

I think the next gens were shelved for the mild refreshes.

I don't have a subscription but the link I sent is a summary page saying the Charger and Challenger may be dropped in 2021. I think CAFE and inadequate return on investment for updates may kill them. They sell OK, but like Panther in the 2000's, sales are gradually dropping.

Now that's odd because it was not showing that at all earlier. I tried the link again and saw what you mean. Odd. It could be with what you said about CAFE and other reasons as for why they may fade out.

It was suppose to be based on the Giulia which I was never really convinced was going to happen. I think their concern moving forward is developing electrified vehicles and none of those platforms are going to be compatible without major investments.
