After 84 years, St Paul Chevy Legend Merges

The last major car dealer on University Avenue in St. Paul is moving its new car sales operation.

Midway Chevrolet today said it's merging with Merit Chevrolet of Maplewood effective May 1, and will close its new car dealership at 1389 University Ave., moving operations to Merit at Interstate 94 and Century Avenue.

Midway said in a release that it would continue to sell used cars at 1333 University Avenue.

"This merger will allow us to better serve our long-term and new customers," said Tom Krebsbach, owner of Midway Chevrolet.

I have worked at Midway Chev since May, 2001. Tom Krebsbach is a truely amazing man to know. I started as a service runner at 19 years old. I was moved to the office, and then to the new vehicle sales team. I have been a retail leader and CSI leader since My first full month in sales. I am closer to 6 other Chevy dealers at home. I will make the move with the franchise near the halfway point of St Paul and the Wisconsin border. We will offer a larger inventory a nicer newer facility and location and maintain the family owned operation. I am very excited and honored to be a part of this. We have a very good chance of becoming a huge threat to the Twin Cities market.

That is just an amazing story. I have alot of respect for the mom and pop shops that did not sell to the chains.. it keeps ownership in the hands of the people. I like that.
Meanwhile, I think you might be in for an illustrious carreer in the auto industry. stay put, work hard and grow
