Re: Introducing Team Edison

Just a few updates as I know them right now.

Ford's BEV is actually arriving Late 2020 as a 2021 MY product. Still no news on other Fully Electric vehicles on the US or EU calendars but they are beyond 2020 regardless.

2020 Explorer HEV 3.3L (AWD Opt) + 3.0L PHEV (Not in US)
2020 Lincoln Aviator 3.0L PHEV (US & China)
2020 Escape 2.5L HEV (AWD Opt) + PHEV (FWD Only)
2021 Lincoln Corsair 2.5L HEV (AWD Opt) + PHEV (AWD Std. with a rear axle Motor)

Right now it looks like Escape is the only US Ford brand PHEV on the schedule, Lincoln gets two. I'm hoping the Explorer PHEV happens in the US but right now it's flagged as global only. No PHEVs for F-Series or Mustang planned...which would make some sense. Ford is instead focusing on HEVs for the US up front which is going into just about anything with the 10-Speed and a V6. Ford is actually running out of applications for the new C2 Hybrids in the US at this point, the 10-Speed is going to be a much bigger deal.

Assimilator,
you don't seem to worry one bit about sharing sensitive product information. How is that?

So with the reported move up of the Corsair to be a 2020 model, would that include the PHEV? Or would we have to wait?

Re: Introducing Team Edison

The Corsair appears to be a 2021 MY product, sounds like a typical extended Lincoln changeover hiatus.

The Hybrids appear to be Job 2 products so they are arriving number of months later. I have specific dates but it's about 3-4 months.

I got further confirmation that the US Explorer is not getting the PHEV, just the HEV.

Re: Introducing Team Edison

I don't know if this was noticed but here's Ford's latest alternative spelling trademark.

"Fastor Charge"

Also, 2022 Mustang gets a V8 5.0 Hybrid.

Re: Introducing Team Edison

I'm hoping I'm wrong but I'm expecting that 5L hybrid to be under the Ford Performance umbrella, and not a GT.

So, Explorer is going proper global or just to China? Hoping we'll get it here in RHD markets.

I do hope they export the HEV Explorer.
The Explorer Sport is quite popular in the Philippines despite its premium pricing. With the hybrids now enjoying lower excise tax rates, that Explorer HEV might become a hit here.

The key to making a car popular is a very simple one; make it look good. It is why it's popular.

My question is how serious is Ford when they say they're a global brand?

The Prius has something to say about this theory of yours
