Well.....that number is not based on the 'full-line' but more commercial sales of F-Series + Navigator/Expedition sales, which seem to be doing a good job supporting the business until the onslaught of new cars, CUV and SUVs are launched, so they can add to the bottom line in a substantial way as well.

Also, as the expanded capacity for Navigator gets going, Navigator sales should keep climbing.

I expect when the current old Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and even older Taurus models are replaced with new and exciting models, which is what the Ford dealers are asking for, Ford cars will be better able to hold their own.

It's safe to say your assumptions about a new CAR onslaught are unfounded at this point, dealers certainly aren't asking for more unwanted cars to fill their backlots.

I don't disagree with you, but at the volumes GM is selling these vehicles at (over 200K) you can't ignore this segment. Having worked for Ford for over 20 years, I know very well their philosophy. That philosophy is high profit vehicles. Personally, I would never buy a Ecosport because it is too small and almost the same price as an Escape. Let's just hope they don't treat the new Ranger (another segment they didn't want to compete in) the same way.

Just a quote from one Ford dealers at their event:

Tindol said she wants to hear that Ford is committed to keeping "every model fresh and exciting."

She understands that dealerships can't survive off of CUVs/SUVs alone, because a large segment of consumers don't want a CUV/SUV. Consumers may lease one or two CUV/SUVs, but if there is no need for hauling, they will want something different than the big box on wheels they have already had. New Camry at over 36k sales for March indicates the strength of the segment. Just like F-150 with 80K+ does the same for full-size trucks. And New Altima is coming. Honda broke the Accord with unattractive styling so they will have their challenges.

Ford knows this, which is why new Focus is coming to help with compact cars, and what's left are replacements for Fusion/MKZ and Taurus. Dealerships don't want to be in the same situation they are with Ranger, when Ford mistakenly discontinued Ranger because they thought they could push those customers into a bigger F-150, or Transit Connect. Which didn't work and those customers went to Toyota and GM. It's just years later Ford is trying to regain those customers.

Did you notice Ford's sales for March where over 50k were cars....and cars that almost all are over 6 years old at that.

At 3,820 for March, the Model 3 outsold the Lincoln MKZ and Continental combined. It actually outsold the MKC and MKX. Sales of the $35k - $60k Model 3 should reach about 10k for April and could have that one vehicle outselling the entire Lincoln lineup. Model 3 production will ramp up to 5k units per week over the next 3 months, which will have that one model outselling the Lincoln lineup globally. With Model 3 selling at about a 26% profit margin.

Lincoln better be planning for a new MKZ with 300+ miles of range. It's sales are so low today that going EV can only help it gain relevance and future sales growth.

All Lincoln has to do is 'follow the leader'.....

It's only the EcoSport's second full month of sales in the U.S. Even the Trax had to start from somewhere some 3+ years ago with sub-4k sales numbers.

When compared to the Trax, a direct rival, the interior space is actually similar. In fact the shorter EcoSport has more legroom and a bigger cargo area than the Trax.

Better packaging gives the EcoSport a decent size interior despite having the shortest overall length. Most of the Trax's added length is on its nose.




*Its larger competitors (price-wise) like the HR-V and C-HR sit so low, you might as well get a Focus hatchback.

You are overestimating the Model 3 and Tesla:

-The tipical Model 3 doesn`t cost 35000, cost 60000$
-The production of the Model 3 is reaching now 2000 units per week and the entire Tesla line is reaching 4000 units per week.
- The quality problems of Model 3 continue... the exterior assembly and the interior quality of this model is far from the quality and excellent experience of today`s Lincoln.
- Profits? Profits on Model 3? You have a broad imagination, Bloggin.
-The Autopilot is a big fiasco. Is a disaster. It is , even , dangerous. Here a paragraf from the article:" This is not a self-driving vehicle. Far from it. It seems a misleading — or even dangerous — to call it a semi-autonomous system considering the vague amount of automation such a descriptor provides. Even so-called self-driving cars with safety drivers behind the wheel as backup have proven to fail tragically, as we saw with Uber in Tempe. Uh? They can't even produce 10K in a month. How would sales be 10K for April?

As someone who just shopped both the Ecosport & Encore, (as well as the Kona) for my wife, I can tell you The Ecosport doesn't have a chance in this segment. It is a poor excuse for a crossover. In my opinion, it is worst in the segment. Ford just does not do small vehicles well. I am 99% pro Ford, but it wasn't happening this time. My wife sat in the back seat, and I adjusted the seat to a normal driving position (I'm 5'10") and she almost could not get her feet out from between the seats. It is ridiculously small back there! WE were close to buying the Kona, which we liked very much. We decided no DCT based on our other family members disastrous encounters with a 2011 & 2012 Fiesta's. That led to to the Buick Encore. Lots of room in the back, and great safety features. We bought Premium AWD with start stop (the best model), with all options. Rebates were $4,250 & $3,000 conquest cash because she traded in her Escape Titanium. In 60K miles, shes done brakes twice, a set of tire and battery, had 3 recalls, a harness repair, trans issues, wheel bearing, and a tie rod. She drives 18 miles city, with no highway each day to work, and really wanted all the safety features, and the Encore even had collision warning alert. My wife really hates our local Ford dealer, and did not want another Ford. Ford really should give loaners too. Our dealer has one loaner, which you must book weeks in advance. We never used it. She always got a loaner when she had a Toyota, and Buick promised her that too. The Buick 1.4T really is under powered, but the Ecosport is worse. The Kona is decent for power in the segment. Ecosport truly needs updating. It really is that bad compared to the competition.

Right on point! On Edit: Not sure where Ford gets their rear leg room numbers from. Rear seat legroom on the Ecosport is PATHETIC at best.
