Cadillac hasn’t been to smart in product cycle timing so we’ll see how smart they are this go around!

As for Ford, their recent announcement was for Ford Division, and Lincoln’s head has gone on record that sedans will be a part of their future. The MKZ replacement is due in 2020 and before then we’ll even have the Continental suicide door anniversary model that’s been rumored.

The last I've heard on Lincoln sedans was the June 5 report from Autoline Daily reporting the Continental is gone in 2 years, and have not seen a reply from Ford/Lincoln confirming or denying that report, so if you have seen something from Ford/Lincoln since then, please share the link.

Well for all we know that’s all a rumor (Autoline)...remember he said a year ago the MKZ was being dropped yet the latest rumors has a new MKZ in 2020 (the upcoming Lincoln Chinese releases) And from a recent Lincoln dealer training (just last month) they showed future design sketches, all of swoopy sedans....not CUV’s. I saw the video on Facebook, they definitely teased their sales force with “look what’s coming!”

At this years NY Auto Show they said two SUV’s by 2020, and 4 more new “vehicles” there after.

The current Continental may not get a replacement but at least short term it’s staying and by all accounts, it’s gettimg a special edition to celebrate the models legacy.

I wonder if Ford is being more careful about their lineup than let's say...Chrysler, Trying to get their whitespace sportbacks and/or SUV coupes announced and sorted out before removing the older cars from their website?

Focus is still around for another few months, as is Fiesta. Fusion is around for another 2 years. No reason to remove them from the website now.

Current Vehicles:
2009 Ford Flex Limited w/ AWD
Light Ice Blue/White Suede Roof | Med. Lt. Stone Interior | Vista Roof
2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Lightning Blue | Black Top | Black Interior

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

How important this article is. Looks like the source are completly credible.

First, some remarcable affirmations in the article:
1- Ford is killing its slow-selling Fusion sedan while keeping the name to affix to a sport wagon it is developing to take on Subaru’s popular Outback.

2- Fusion sedan will be replaced in the showroom by a high-roofed hatchback built on the same mechanical underpinnings.
3- Mike Levine: We’ll likely continue to use the name because of its awareness, positive imagery and value with consumers.”
4- Ford needs to find a way to keep its sedan buyers returning to its showrooms. A trade-in analysis by researcher Kelley Blue Book found that less than half of Ford Fusion owners are loyal to the brand. The most popular SUV models that Fusion owners consider are the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, KBB found.

Now, we can start to speculate about this new Fusion. I think is the wagon version, with the "Active" treatment: rised suspension, black body cladding and some "SUV" touches here and there. Think in the Focus Active on the Fusion body.

Now, is easy to imagine that Ford will keep the Fusion/Mondeo/MKZ in the future , maybe in a new platform (CD6 RWD?) for China (sedan), Europe (Hatch and wagon), USA (wagon Active).

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

Since Ford is planning to use the same or similarly developed auto (not truck) platforms for their push toward SUV/CUV heaven, they can morph back to lower-riding, (aero)dynamically superior sedans when the wind changes.

Ford's EV platforms, I suspect, will offer similar flexibility. I hope that RWD proportions (they gotta look good, too) will be a fundamental part of Ford's new packaging options.
