New MPG Knock Japan Inc from High MPG horse

I a stagarring blow to Japan imports bragging rights, the new Fedral MPG reporting guidelines are set to bring down Japanese imports from their high horses.
The Prius is worst hit with stagerring 20% drop in claimed verses actual mileage a consumer can expect. Given the added cost of Imported hybrids its difficult to see how Toyota is going to spin this new data to promote its "efficient image".

With the New Tundra just hitting showrooms.. The Beast barely manages 14 MPG

The F150 Manages 16 MPG combined

And so does the silvarado. One is left wondering what happened to the "Superior" technology from accross the pacific.

You make it sound as if the new Tundra suddenly gets terrible mileage compared to the F150, which isn't true.

From the EPA links you provided:

Tundra: 13 City, 17 Highway. Combined 14
F150: 12 City, 16 Highway. Combined 14

And the actual title of the article reads: Car MPG Ratings Going Down

It should also be mentioned that the first paragraph of your post is NOT taken from the article.

Go to the govt website and calculate with AWD Tundra. Or just click the Links I put there. The Tundra gets only 14 MPG Combo
F150 16 Combo

Guys, just a recomendation: Lets try to stay away from GMI's import bashing.

This can be a fantastic site because is about the most historic auto name in the entire planet, the one established by the man that put the world on wheels, the one that has more first and milestones than any other, that is something about Ford that any domestic or import brand can't touch. Lets be happy with that and acknowledge that at this point in time the domestics have a lot to learn from the imports, some about design and manufacture and lots about marketing. There is nothing wrong in acknowledging that.

Remember, it was Ford, not GM or Chrysler that Toyota and Honda used as the benchmark to reach. Remember that it was the Taurus the car that Toyota benchmarked when they did the 1992 Camry and the F-150 the truck that Toyota has benchmarked over and over for the T-100 and subsequent Tundras.

This can be the best discussion board in the net, it only depends on us. We already have the best brand to talk about.
