Spyshots: 2015 Ford Focus Hatchback, Sedan and Estate

Spyshots: 2015 Ford Focus Hatchback, Sedan and Estate

The European car market has been growing for the past three months, demand in the US is better than ever, China is also growing and compact models are starting to become more popular. It's the perfect time for Ford to make one of the most dramatic model changes ever.

Going into production in about a year, the significantly revised Ford Focus family will probably get the title "New Focus" from the marketing people, and for good reason. Cosmetic changes will leave it almost unrecognizable. The Aston Martin grille seen on the larger Fusion/Mondeo and smaller Fiesta will be adopted, together with comprehansive design changes.

New engines, including updated diesels, the new 1.5-liter three cylinder Ecoboost turbo and cleaner version of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost will all be adopted and PowerShift optioned cars might switch to the newer dry dual-clutch used by the Fiesta.

Interesting that there is room between the Fiesta and Focus for another almost identical car. It's nice and all, but whats the point?

Not sure what you are saying here.
Should Ford add something between them, or separate them further?

Overall I see nothing more than minor changes even on the interior. I assume the front end will look similar to the Focus Electric prototypes before they shrunk the "grill". The rest of the body is essentially unchanged, which is typical of a refresh but underwhelming nonetheless.

Upon re-reading the thread I'm not sure what I was saying either!

My BCL must be running a little low this morning. Somehow I thought this thread was about the rumored Escort revival for China so I was wondering if there really is room between the fiesta and Focus for another car.

As for the actual purpose of this thread, I'm not a big fan of the current Focus, its to busy looking for my tastes though I do recognize that it is a great car. I prefer a little more styling restraint in a design, yet I'm certainly not the target market for the Focus.

Escort is to be a cheaper Focus. Something that is needed in places like China.

"...new 1.5-liter three cylinder Ecoboost turbo"

This must be a typo, just as there was with the intro of the 1.5L EcoBoost for the Fusion. It's the 4-cylinder, not a new 3-cylinder 1.5L.

But the Focus is about to get a power boost. It's 181hp in the Fusion, up from the 160hp from todays 2.0L. And 185 torque from 146.
