Well, I can tell you THAT info is wrong. Here in South Africa we get the long version of the sedan. Not that ugly short version.

I still think the short-tail in the pic is CUTE
...tho it oughta be a dual-mode hatch+trunklid

Ford India exports the standard length Figo sedan (identical to the Brazilian Ka+ sedan) to markets like South Africa, Mexico and the Middle East.

It would make sense to export this version to Turkey if they needed a low-cost sedan.

The Aspire sedan is an Indian market model designed to fit in the lower tax bracket for sub-4-meter vehicles.

Dual-mode? You mean a hatchback mode and a trunk lid mode like the BMW 5-series GT? That would be expensive.
If I had my way, i'd keep the same profile and just make the back window part of the trunk lid to form a bigger opening like the old hatchback Escorts.

In India a sedan is seen as a step up, so I guess this is the reason they gave the Aspire a tiny trunk lid (perhaps so it can qualify as a sedan?)

PS: I hope the Figo/Aspire refresh is good, Maruti Suzuki just launched a new version of the Swift-based sub-4-meter Dzire sedan. .


It kinda looks good for its segment

Ford Brazil headed the development of the current Ka which the Figo and its derivatives are based on.


The only involvement of Ford Australia with the new Ka/Figo I believe is the 2018 refresh, since units in camo have been seen in Australia.

It's the previous Figo that was developed by Ford Australia, it was based on the old gen Fiesta.



The recently discontinued European Mk2 Ka was a reskinned Fiat 500 made in Poland.


The Mk1 Ka was developed by Ford Europe, it was based on a Fiesta.

Yeah, that would have been expensive for a sub-Fiesta level car, the hatchback mode would be fine.
As if I'm not mistaken, the Ka and is a joint venture with Fiat?
