Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

I am more confused now....what would be the "order" of the upcomings debuts?
1.Continental
2.MKZ
3.New Aviator? (Lincoln needs a CUV that can sell 4K per month like the MDX!)
4.New Navigator
I still think that Lincoln needs more vehicles, 2 new vehicles until 2020 is not enough

The current Explorer base engine is 3.5 V6, which will go away eventually. So I see the mid-level optional engine (i.e. for non-Sport and non-Platinum models) being the 2.7 EB when the next generation shows up: base 2.3 EB, optional 2.7EB, Sport/Platinum 3.5 EB. That means Aviator will likely receive the 3.0 EB as base engine and 3.5 EB as optional engine.

Similarly, the next generation Expedition will lose several hundred lbs so the base engine will probably be 2.7 EB and the 3.5 EB will be optional. This sets up Navigator to receive the 3.0 EB as base engine (3.5 EB optional).

And if Ford wants to go really crazy, I'm ready for that 3.0 EB MKC hot rod... :shift:
thinking the 3.0EB will only go into RWD Lincolns OR Lincolns that will eventually** be RWD
:
-- nextgen D6cD6r Conti
-- alumiNator (with ~500hp ng3.5EB opt.)
-- Aviator
-- LincStang(s)
-- nextgen D6cD6r MKX?
and
we'll know if the MKZ wil go D6cD6r by IF we hear about a 3.0-Z-Sport (which I doubt)

** imho any F-Awd Lincolns with 3.0EB will be limited to ~120-125hp-per-liter
the Rwds will get the 'full' ~150hp-per-liter

WorldCarFans.com Bentley will celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2019 and it appears the company is working on something special to mark the occasion...

...Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer said “Our centenary would be a good time to create a new limited series car." The executive was tight-lipped on specifics but reportedly told the publication that a hypercar is one of the models being considered.

Dürheimer also said** a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept "will be investigated intensively in Crewe within the next month." He went on to suggest the model could use "lots of carbon fiber and lightweight components" to go after "the big guns" in its segment.

(Dürheimer also runs Bugatti)

** imho, that sounds like the Speed6 is a different, SOONER project

Per 2b2's request I am quoting myself from GMI here so you folks could see this post.

Quote:
Another pointless story my neighbor is foreign and had a fairly new Mercedes E Class and he recently took a job on the East coast of FL and only comes back this way once a month. He now has a brand new Lexus GS. We talked for a while and he was a big fan of German luxury cars just because of German engineering. He asked about my MKZ and said what kind of car is that? I said it was a Lincoln MKZ and he said oh man Lincoln aren't those really expensive and hand built? I laughed and said no they aren't and he made a face at me. Granted not everyone thinks this and the fact that he's foreign, originally from South America, where Lincolns aren't sold probably helps with that. But even so when I got the MKZ people at work asked me several times how can you afford such an expensive car? One of my co-workers just bought a new Buick LaCrosse but he said he looked at an MKZ but it was out of his price range which I thought was odd since those seem to line up price wise.

Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

^ good choice putting this in the Mission, Andrew
&
my reply (which you might not have see in GMI's hubbub)
...
imho Lincoln owners need to get a 'story' prepared for these situations
maybe:
"YES, Lincoln-Continental is known for hand-built cars - tho they're between those AT THE MOMENT"

...just don't mention the last one was the 1950s' Conti MKII

Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

happened upon these fotos at TheMustangSource from last March

...my friends senior thesis project for our design class.
He was rebranding Lincoln and designed this large sedan...

the front bumper design, protruding flat part under the grille,
is so similar to the new Continental & MKZ,
that I wonder if he saw one of the styling clays

Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

I was reading some Lux threads at GMI and a few issues stood out

1- imho Lincoln-exclusive engines SOUND fantastic...
Wondering if a SMALL Lincoln-Only engine would be a good next step?
my choice might be a 1.5. 3cylinder**

2- as opposed to Cadillac,
anyone think FLincMoCo was foretelling the future (again) by offering more Cuvs than cars?
...imho it was more Luck or just what-they-had to work with

3- imho, the Macan might be the most-genius vehicle of the decade
...& not at all sure if either Caddy or FLincMoCo is seriously planning to target that slot
3b- a blend/unification of Cuv & Car (like but more Lux than the Ifnit Q/QX30's) might be the logical progression?

**edit
forgot to point out a 3x1.5L = HALF of Lincoln's other unique engine

re-edit
4- from a Cadillac thread: What would it take to make a nonSUV that could be successfully priced above the Navigator/Escalade??
is that even feasible?
.

don't mind me, just rescuing from a garbage thread...

So here goes...

Lincoln's should be big, opulent and powerful. More 'pure luxury'' and less autobahn racer at higher tiers. Very much the direction the New Continental and New Navigator are going. For me, I want to see Lincoln as the Rolls Royce of American luxury cars in the future with their top tier models:

Lincoln Service Levels:
- Black Label Plus (includes available Lincoln Chauffeur, Lincoln Chef, Lincoln Butler service, etc)
- Black Label
- Lincoln Service

Top Tier Lincoln Black Label Plus: ($100k+) True opulence, power and service
Next Gen, larger, more upright New 'Grand' Continental = Phantom
New Next Gen Navigator and 'Grand' Navigator = Upcoming new RR SUV

2nd Tier Lincoln Black Label: ($75k+) Black Label service level, luxury and power
New Current Large Continental, new platform = Ghost
New Aviator Large SUV =

3rd Tier Lincoln Reserve: ($50k+) Exhilarating performance, Lincoln Service, luxury and power
MKZ = Midsize Luxury Sedan
MKX = Midsize Luxury CUV

4th Tier Lincoln Select: ($40k+) Entry Luxury, Lincoln Service, luxury and power
MK? = compact Sedan
MKC = compact CUV

The idea is that Lincoln would be targeting the higher tier luxury consumer. Luxury automobiles, luxury services and luxury lifestyle. The higher the tier, the higher level of services available.
I had to copy^ for a bunch of interesting ideas @Bloggin BUT
want Lincoln to offer a monolithic *choice* of Luxury on every vehicle (for now)
so (slapdash):

Lincoln Service Levels
Lincoln 'Club' : includes available Lincoln Chauffeur, Lincoln Chef, Lincoln Butler service, etc ( = like FordPass ? )
...std on [WhiteLabel] at first, optional on others
Lincoln Black Label service level, optional on others
Lincoln 'Standard' of Care: all others

Lincoln Trim Levels
[WL] approaching fully-bespoke
[BL]
Reserve
std ...need to re-study the feature-sets

Lineup
Next Gen cD6 Continental = Practical-REALISTIC-Phantom
AlumiNavigator/Navigator-L(imousine) = Upcoming new RR SUV
New Constellation/MARK, cD6 = Ghost
New Aviator Large SUV =
Aviator-Sport ( ¿= Cayenne? )
STARstangs = coupe-cabrio, sportsedan, sportbrake
MKZ = Midsize Luxury Sedan
MKX = Midsize Luxury CUV
X-Sport ( = Macan )
MKE = compact Sedan (still like this linked INTO *stangs)
MKC = compact CUV

Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

^...nice....and like the idea of a Mark something being below the New RWD Continental.

Maybe MARK 9, since that was a concept car that never was.

I like that Aviator and Aviator Sport, going just smaller than Range Rover/Range Rover Sport.

Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

My Lincoln rebuilding plan is Continental, Navigator, MKC, MKX, and Aviator and nothing more. No one is interested in small Lincoln sedans or any Lincoln coupe. All based on Ford platforms. CD6 will be a longitudinal FWD, AWD, and RWD platform for Explorer, Aviator, and Continental and nothing else. No Taurus. Explorer and Aviator will be longitudinal FWD and AWD, and Continental will be RWD and AWD. All will be available with a plug in hybrid 4 cylinder, base turbo 4, 2.7TT, 3.0L TT, and Aviator and Continental will have an optional 5.0L V8, also with twin turbo chargers.
