- I just put 100,000 miles on a hybrid and this is the future! I love how the relationship between a powerful electric motor and the ever improving battery will put the ICE 'On Notice' as it will be 'Marginalized' with other ways of creating power such as home plug in, small propane or alternative fuel backup power sources. You only need 10 to 20 hp to keep a small car rolling at 65 mph. The extra torque needed for acceleration can better be met by an electric motor so 'bye bye' ICE. Having said that I own a Mustang for fun and I drive it on the weekends so I have moved the ICE in my life from the 'Necessary Category' to the 'Barely Needed and Only for Fun Category'! With US Production of Oil and Gas back on the rise and the potential for hybrid technology to soar the future indeed looks bright again!
