“We understand our obligation as a luxury car manufacturer to create objects of desire, sparking passion and inspiration by emphasizing a culture while exceeding expectations ..."

Genesis is trying (maybe too) hard as it announces new concept at NYC.

It's not a SUV and I haven't seen a non-production-ready SUV/CUV concept that floats my boat. The best out-there concepts at Geneva and now NYC are all sedans and coupes; you know, the dying segment.

Finally, with the introduction of the Navigator and the Aviator, Lincoln shows signs of living up to that quote by the top Genesis V.P. Too bad I'm not in the market for those kinds of vehicles. I sense that the next Lincoln sedans/coupes that are coming after the SUV/CUV push will be worth the wait. I'm 74. I just hope I get to see them.

It's hideous. I guess Toyota didn't let me down after all.

Once upon a time, they were pretty "Edgy", with Z-cars, Sentra SE-Rs, impressive Maximas, some fairly serious trucks/SUVs, and so on. Nowadays...what? The cars are largely forgettable with unlovable transmissions and too little separating the Altima/Maxima, the smaller cars are just plain bad, the trucks define "also ran"...oh, and the Leaf is slightly more capable and very slightly less homely.

I don't get the point.
My parents were Ford Lincoln Mercury and Subaru for the longest time till 2006 when my mom bought an Altima and fell in love with it. Before that was her 99 Mercury Sable which became my first car and talk about a step down. The Sable was an LS Premium so it had leather, sunroof, power seats, wood (fake) trim on the doors and shifter, EATC, 6 CD changer and cassette player, dual exhaust, 200 HP Duratec V6 - 4 speed auto. The Altima had cloth, no sunroof, single power seat, no wood trim (silver plastic instead), CD player, non automatic climate control, 2.5 4 cylinder with 170 HP - 4 speed auto. The Mercury was an overall better car there were some things the Altima did better like rear headroom and larger trunk opening vs the Sables small opening but overall the Sable was better taking my bias out. Now typically the non car enthusiasts will come running in to talk about how American cars are crap and don't hold up as well as the Japanese but honestly that Altima wasn't that reliable. When I traded the Sable in it had 140k miles with the original engine and transmission. We had to replace the power steering rack on it in error because the dealer said that's what was wrong with it but that didn't fix the problem with the power steering being noisy eventually we had it fixed by getting it flushed properly which the dealer never did but that was the only major problem with that car. The Altima had the driveshaft replaced due to it going bad and consistent starter issues and strange whistling noises. The Altima also had a MASSIVE turning circle. The 2.5 while the HP numbers looked impressive, it was pretty gutless the Sable was definitely quicker and felt more confident on the highway. I still to this day don't know what they saw it in because they have gone on to buy 3 more, a dark blue hybrid, a black SL and now a white SL.

Beautiful proportions, outline, and rear-end. It's definitely a true concept car.
