Just meaningless anecdotes, you can find them all over the internet, Data is what matters and Ford has it all.

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

"The data make clear that while some automakers have trimmed their car lineups, sedans are far from obsolete. Brands just need to aim them at the right audiences with the proper messaging, which will be critical as the consumer base continues to diversify, says Marc Bland, IHS Markit's vice president of diversity and inclusion."

"Cars still have a real place," Bland told Automotive News. "The brands that are offering the most choice, I think, are going to win in the long run because of this freedom of choice."

Longo Toyota, the enormous South-ern California dealership spread across more than 50 acres.....He said that despite the shift toward crossovers, ethnic buyers are still interested in cars. His store pushes the Camry, a force across all groups, as well as the Corolla to Hispanic and Asian consumers in particular.

"We are seeing a ton of strength in the car sector," Harrington said. "I loved hearing that Ford is pulling out."

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

C-Max, S-Max, Galaxy, and all their Wagons need to be converted to crossover utilities which seems to be on the horizon but it's going to take a long time. I really have no idea what they are going to do about their cars but it's such a crucial part of their marketshare and I guess they just have to let this generation of product play out and decide at the end of it. I think part of the hold-up at Ford is that they are a 'legacy' company with an entrenched audience that's shrinking which means they tend to hang-on to old ideas even if they know they are going to sell fewer of them. Ford in NA is taking far bigger progressive actions than Europe and it's really time we get a sense of a major next step for Ford EU. Brexit might have doomed Ford's EU operation, I'm not sure what kind of headwinds they are facing there but it's going to be harder and harder to invest toward profitability. I think all of the smaller utilities Ford is developing will help to steer everything back toward the center in their 3 largest markets.

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

The article from Motor1 say the C-Max, S-Max and Galaxie could be discontinue. The C- Max will be replaced by a new crossover smaller than the Escape/Kuga and bigger than the EcoSport... maybe with a new name. The S-Max and Galaxie must be discontinue. Nobody are buying people movers en Europe right now. Maybe a 3row seats Edge or the new Explorer will replace both?
About the new Mondeo, I think is difficult for Ford to plan and build a new sedan only for Europe, if discontinue the Fusion. Maybe a new Mondeo for Europe and China and a crossover or high ride hatch version for USA let Ford made some profits with this platform. A Lincoln based on this car is possible too.

Re: Fusion/Fiesta/Taurus Officially Cancelled

Once you expressly call out that your car business in Europe is completely unprofitable after a major investment in Focus and Fiesta...then you know they are preparing to make some decisions.

FWIW, a NG Mondeo and a companion Crossover (sometimes known as Ford's Subaru) is on the product calendar.

Ford could be doing the same thing in Europe.

Perhaps the 2019 Focus sedan will not be available in higher spec form in Europe?

Ford did mention that only models with the smaller base engines like the 1.0 EcoBoost get the twist-beam.

Chinese market 2019 Focus Titanium (1.5 EcoBoost) sedan with multi-link rear suspension.

Shop manual for Europe? Maybe the sedan will only be offered there with base engines. Rear suspension varies depending on the engine.

It says 4-door and 5-door Multi-link.

The sedan will be sold in some EU markets EG: Turkey, Romania have been named. There are a few markets that buy more sedans, and the sedan has been confirmed at the Saarlouis Assembly Plant.

BTW, the sedans that have been shown in China all have had the multi-link rear set up.
