That mule in the pics has the body of the current Focus . . .



. . . they are probably testing chasi components and/or the new double clutch trannie.

Its great that hey are already working in this car. Its going to be big!

^^ God I do too. I Absolutely love that car. If it ever does become available here in America I'm gonna try to be first in line to take delivery.

I can see it now! The All-New Mercury Capri :D

Oh, but there WILL be another Capri . . . not too sure if it will be a Mercury though. . . .

With the new Focus platform, they should give Mercury the hard top convertable as an exclusive, and have a version of the MAV. As Ford goes through a lot of changes to make Ford cars similar worldwide, I am worried that they will consider it too costly to make Mercury versions within a decade, unless they also market unique Mercury models in Europe too.

just-imho, hardtop-verts (coupe-cabrios) are
- a fad
- 'over the top' (if you'll forgive the expression; ie overcomplicated)
- a bit awkward/silly looking when up (unless they're black)
so
I can see one as a Lincoln (matching/surpassing the Lux brands)
but
prefer the idea of a super-duper-BAMR for Mercury's Capri model(s ...

...kinda thinking of using 'Capri' as the bodystyle variant name)

As what? Mercury or Ford?
I would love to know that myself.

I'm not trying to tell Ford what to do, but this car must come as a Mercury. I say that 'cause Ford is "claiming" to be reinvigorating Mercury as a Premium Small Car & Crossover Brand. Thus this car fits the bill so perfectly.

Ford released no information about whihc brand will get it, but Focus CCwas mentoined a while back as one ofthe cars coming (not under consideration, but approved)

I've said I'm not (ie no longer) a hard'vert/coupe-cabrio fan
but think it'd be good for Fomoco to offer one for those (still) into them
&
combining that with an older CrazyIdea™...
maybe have the Focus-CC branded as "Lincoln-Mercury" ?
OR
I'd like to see a "simpler" super-duper-BAMR for the Mercury Capri
BUT
offer the CoupeCabrio as the LINCOLN CAPRI?
have very little sheetmetal difference - just the roof & std/option extras
afterall
both Mercury & Lincoln have used the Capri name...
&
imho Fomoco IS looking at L-M as One Brand now...

well, that sounds like you're saying 2 body styles for 3 models (triplets) is OK,
right?
so 2 of the 3 are just detail changes & only one is significantly different
yes?
what about if the 2 that are closest in sheetmetal were the Merc & Lincoln?
(see comment above about L-M being one Brand)

With the 2010 Milan, Merc's grille is closer than ever to Lincoln's;
they could go back to upright slats for the Merc grille (like the winged-god intended ;)), maybe use the Ford version's headlites...
...since the roof would have to be unique to the CC, maybe the Ford's roof on the Lincoln's body could== MERC???

remember I'm not saying to do this for every model
but for the CC (the ONLY Focus I can see as a Lincoln), imho "blending" a sorta-custom Merc could be at least as interesting as what would come out of trying to do 3 styles on a 2 model budget
