Edmunds.com

WASHINGTON — The 2014 Ford Focus small car has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The gasoline-powered Focus received four stars in the frontal crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover test. The ratings apply to sedan and hatchback versions of the Focus.

The 2014 Ford Focus Electric earned a perfect five-star score in all federal crash tests.

And this is the base for the new compact sedan from Lincoln! Excelent!
I highly doubt that. If Lincoln does a CLA competitor it will likely be based upon the next Focus, not upon the one with only four years left on it. You figure by the time they could introduce that vehicle they would likely have no more than three years to recoup their investment.

I'm not sure Lincoln can sell anything like a CLA competitor anyway, that's a very different customer that would never buy a Lincoln. Lincoln's solution would more likely resemble Verano, but edged up a few notches (think MKZ vs Lexus ES). If Lincoln does this with a Focus, the MKC is probably a good indication of where they would go with it.
