Looks like the new Silverado and Sierra pickups sales are not good at the first moments. The "new" ( really these trucks are new???) pickups are selling worst than the previous models.
GM did a fine job improving the trucks in every way. Styling is a good, but certainly no reason to switch brands. I don’t know, I think they will slowly build sales.
How long have they been on sale? I am not worried for GM, their trucks will certainly at least appeal to current customers, and could easily conquer new truck buyers, as they are all-round excellent trucks. I'll be much more worried for them if they haven't at least caught up to their typical sales rate by spring.
They had a huge volume of the old models and heavily discounted them to clear them off the lots. I think they may have pulled their sales forward. The discount buyers have made their purchases, and GM is left with customers seeking the "all new" model. Maybe some are not impressed enough, or waiting for the discounts to start again.
The trucks were improved but not significant enough to upgrade from the previous model. If the sales don't pick up soon, the new F150 will expand in sales even more.
GM has always sat on a heavy inventory of trucks. They just don't have the demand that Ford does. You should see the crazy incentives dealers are throwing on the hood. The new trucks are great, but GM needs to manage their inventory better. They had this same issue last year.
