Ford Reveals 2015 Expedition with EcoBoost Engine, Advanced Technology, New Platinum Series

•2015 Ford Expedition will feature 3.5-liter, direct-injected twin-turbocharged EcoBoost® engine popular in Ford F-Series; engine designed to deliver most powerful, fuel-efficient Expedition ever
•Advanced technology in new Expedition includes Blind Spot Information System® with cross-traffic alert, electric power-assisted steering, SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, available suspension damping to improve passenger comfort; a new high-trim Platinum series debuts
•Ford global utility vehicle sales rose 35 percent in 2013; Ford has been the leader in North America utility vehicle sales since 2011

The new 2015 Ford Expedition, revealed here today ahead of the 2014 DFW Auto Show, continues to represent the smart choice for people who need a full-size utility vehicle that provides capable performance, usable space and advanced technology.

Expedition now features Ford F-Series’ popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine, more technology than ever and a fresh new look. Launching later this year, it is the latest Ford nameplate to offer a Platinum series. Expedition is being shown for the first time in Texas, Ford’s largest market by sales volume, and home to the top two cities for Expedition sales – Dallas and Houston.

Interesting that Lincoln did more exterior updating than Ford, but I actually think this looks better.
A new, optional, continuously controlled damping system alters suspension settings constantly based on 46 parameters and offers comfort, normal and sport modes (just like the Expedition's sister, the recently refreshed and decidedly less-attractive Lincoln Navigator).

mmmmm not sure about this expedition, I like more the Navi (I don´t know why Autoblog is saying the contrary).
Another thing, I thought the CCD was only for Lincoln
Liking this more than the Navigator. At least is honest and of course has the Ford badge on it, this gen Expedition has aged very well imo.
I wish they had changed those taillights and dropped in some LEDs.

I think the Navigator suffers from the 'lipstick on a pig' phenomenon. There is too much clashing design with a lack of finesse and quality. Expedition's design is more honest and rugged.

This is more of a match to the Chevy than the Navy is to the Caddy.
I think the updates were tasteful and make it look modern, I like it!

That's because Ford can't help themselves so much for Lincoln exclusive features...

The one thing that I don't like is the rear chrome bar. It has very little design significance.
1. Better looking than the 'Gator.
2. Why does the Expedition get to avoid the Ford family face while the 'Gator is stuck chasing the MKZ look?
3. Both this and the 'Gator are better looking, but a large part of that is the huge wheels which do wonders for almost any design.
4. This is also better looking than any of the GM SUVs with the exception of the Escalade, and its not even close.
5. In spite of its longevity, the overall truck has aged exceptionally well from an appearance standpoint IMO.
6. Thats it, I got nothing more...

Edit:

7. I lied. 3.5EB only. Very interesting but not very surprising.

I don´t think is a good idea that the expedition have CCD as the Navi and Lincolns and the same 3.5l EB V6, at least I hope the Navi is more poweful. If Ford is really focus in Lincoln and wants to stop the tarted up Fords comments they need to stop stealing the tech of Lincoln!! :banghead:

Not 100% sure about the front of the expedition, the back less because it is the same with a big chrome bar.

The front end is a major improvement. More upscale and sporty looking, especially with the LEDs and chrome brush plate.

Bringing the Expedition name to the sides is a nice touch. Adding chrome trim at the base of the windows instead of black paint looks much better and is less heavy. It looks like there was no change to the rear quarter panels or lighting. The new tailgate with chrome bar across brightens/lightens up the back end. Also the exhaust now points to the rear instead of the side.

Overall the 2015 Expedition looks more sporty, more solid with less paint and more chrome, lighter on it's feet. This should do fine to maintain or even get an upward sales momentum going, while Ford readies the all new heavily aluminum Expedition in the next couple years.

I think what makes a Lincoln a Lincoln is the vehicle design statement, level of luxury and the Lincoln experience, not the individual technology pieces, but the sum of all it's parts.

The sharing of technology between Ford and Lincoln helps both brands grow. Allowing more choices for the consumer, as they are able to first choose between the Lincoln experience or Ford experience.......then make their technology choices without restriction or limitation based on brand.
Nav>Expy

They did a decent job on the front but the entire refresh is definitely underwhelming... After thought? I mean are they even planning on making an all new Expy?
