2016 Ford Galaxy Caught On Film Testing in the United States (Photo Gallery)

The third-generation Galaxy debuted more than 9 years ago at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show and the next one is expected to do the same at the 2015 edition of the famed automotive event. This is the second time our spy photographers spotted the 2016 Ford Galaxy testing on the public roads.

A few weeks ago, our carparazzi caught the all-new Ford Galaxy on European roads, but this time they have returned with a fresh set of photos of a U.S.-specification model. Some of the photos depict exactly what we hoped for: motorway testing, a.k.a. fine tuning for the shocks and sound insulation.

Compared to the outgoing model, the Galaxy pre-production prototype caught testing looks like it has grown in wheelbase, width and length, so it's safe to assume that the all-new Ford Galaxy will offer better accommodation and more cubby holes to store your family's bits and bobs on the school run or when on vacation. So what else is in store for you?

While the overall profile shape of the large MPV is virtually the same as before, under the black cladding there seems to be a very butch front grille and Fusion-inspired headlights with LED daytime running lights. The rear bumper appears to be sculpted in a more clean and fluid way than before, similar to what we have seen on the Ford S-Max Vignale Concept.

It does look like a longer wheelbase than the current version and more able to compete with the big minivans from Chrysler/Dodge, Honda, Toyota.

Chrysler/Dodge minivans are over 160k units YTD, up 20% for each brand over 2013. And with the demise of the Dodge Caravan scheduled that has moved 80k units YTD and up 20%, it opens the door of opportunity for Ford to reenter the market to take it's place.

The article makes is sound like its a done deal to sell the new S-Max/Galaxy here in the U.S. Has confirmation of this been announced? There is a good chance I missed it since I've only been able to log on a few times each week.

There has not been any 'official' confirmation, just a whole lot of roadwork in the US with the two models where Ford has a product gap.
