First preview of what to expect posted by justauto.com

Known world premieres for the 2018 North American International Auto Show are noted below, with the latest one, the Mercedes-AMG 53, now added.

Information on the following models can be found by searching PLDB, just-auto's global vehicle database. Simply click on the link at the end of this list.

Model year for North American markets in parentheses

Audi A7 Sportback (2019): slightly shorter than old model, MLB Evo architecture, production at Neckarsulm will commence in late February

BMW X2 (2018) F39: A rival for the Range Rover Evoque, will be built in Regensburg but should also be made in Brazil and China

GAC concept: no details as yet, will follow the EnSpirit design study from the 2017 NAIAS

Hyundai Veloster (2019): unlike almost all rivals, Hyundai believes there is still a worthwhile amount of potential sales volume in this segment

Infiniti EV: few official details as yet but it won't be related to the Leaf; instead, a larger model on a different architecture

Kia Forte (2019): to be again known as the Cerato in some countries, will be twinned with the replacement for the cee'd series which becomes the Ceed

Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept: created by the CALTY design studio in Southern California, a "flagship crossover", other details are yet to be announced

Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 Hybrid (2019): powered by the new M256 in-line 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine and a 50kW motor, CLS 63 will also be added to the range

Ram 1500 (2019): new steel frame, production due to commence in January at Sterling Heights, outgoing remains in production at Warren Truck and Saltillo

Volkswagen Jetta (2019): seventh generation model, Puebla is due to commence building it in December and US market sales should commence during Q1

I do hope the Ford Focus (2019) [N/C] gets added to this list. If it comes there.

They might wait till Chicago for the Ranger since that one tends to be more truck focused

Eh, I doubt it - they'll likely want Ranger to be front and center.

What are the chances that Ford will use Detroit to show of the new 2019 Ford Explorer or is that too early? If not the Explorer, I think the next likely vehicle shown would be the 2019 Edge facelift. The Focus would probably be shown in Europe first, likely at Geneva in March before coming to North America at NY in April. For Lincoln they may show a concept of the rumored Aviator at Detroit. Since LA was all about Lincoln, I'm hoping Ford has something big to show at NAIAS maybe both the NG Explorer and the Edge Facelift or the new Ranger..

As likely as it may sound that they're going to release the 2019 Edge, Explorer and maybe Ranger in Detroit, it doesn't seem likely. They don't look finished enough.

The MK4 Focus is wearing the same layer of camouflage as the 2019 Hyundai Veloster.

The Edge is ready, so it's likely.

I suppose it's possible we see an Explorer "concept", but I kind of doubt it. I think that might be one that they just reveal the production model sometime next year either at a show or its own event.

NAIAS will likely be Ford only as far as debuts go, with an Aviator 'concept' shown later at NY or something.

All Infiniti interiors have looked exactly the same forever now.

I loved the 2nd and 4th Gen Supras! There is nothing to like visually about the mules that have been photographed. It may turn out to be a great car, but I highly doubt I'll find it attractive.
From what I've seen, it looks ugly with that bizarre bulge in the front bumper.

*just* enuf changed from their center console that I hated:
I didn't like the silver plug on the bottom spoke. Three spoke for the sake of being three spoke. The open bottom on the LE concept looks cleaner.

I honestly don't like when companies close off the bottom with accents. Lincoln, Acura, Volkswagen Touraeg, etc. Lincoln's is okay though. I would have preferred an open bottom spoke and wood around the rim.
