The Ford Motor Co. has the best "Plan," the best future vehicle lineup and the best financial underpinnings of the domestic automobile manufacturers. And if the economy gets going again, they could even get by without any government loans. Alan Mulally is not only the most visionary and talented CEO in Detroit, he's one of the best in the business, period. And he has been worth every dime to the Ford Motor Company.

three cheers for Mr. M. ! ! !

but first
THREE CHEERS for UNCLE BILL

I'll say it again (differently);
if Mr. M. is the contractor getting the new House of Ford built...
...imho Bill C. Ford Jr. was (& IS) the architect

just ^imho^
don't mean to take away from the **** Of A Job that Mr. M. is doing
I agree. History will vindicate Bill Ford, he had the vision to know that Ford and himself needed help and the guts to acknowledge it in public and act in consequence (meaning, firing himself).

Mulally is a great contractor and one with invaluable suggestions for the owner.

and...
I meant to go a bit further than the recruiting of Mr. M.

imho (could be wrong)

- the Mortgage was in the works before Mr. M. said 'yes'
- the quality push was underway Long before that
- even the truck>>cars switch was much more than foreshadowed
- wonder how long Microsoft was working on Sync??? or Ford before getting MS onboard(Seattle-connection?)
- also wonder how much visionary-ing WCFord2 is doing behind the scenes currently!?!

ok, I'm good... back to Mr. M.

I agree 2b2. In my opinion Mr. M is one of the greatest CEO's I've ever seen.

I like the analogy !

I don't think Bill was the exclusive architect, but he certainly picked a great team.

None better than his "general contractor".

Ford's biggest challenge may be managing success and demand for their products 2 to4 years from now !
