Lincoln

Sep-24-2014 2:55 AM ET

SHANGHAI, China — This morning, Lincoln announced the pre-sale prices for the all-new Lincoln MKC and Lincoln MKZ, the first two vehicles the iconic brand is bringing to China. The two models will both offer three series: Select, Reserve and Preferred. Pre-sale prices for the Lincoln MKC, a luxury SUV, run between RMB350,000 and 450,000 while the Lincoln MKZ, a luxury mid-size sedan, will pre-sell for between RMB320,000 and 400,000. The first shipment of Lincoln MKZ and MKC have arrived in China and are ready for order, more information can be obtained through Lincoln China Call Center hotline at 400-988-6789.

The Lincoln Way - A dealership experience unlike any other

Underpinning the Lincoln vehicles is “The Lincoln Way”, an innovative new model for luxury automotive retailing designed to create personally crafted experiences that make a connection with today’s Chinese luxury customers. The Lincoln Way will be delivered in a newly created network of dealers staffed by dedicated teams of Lincoln sales and service employees trained by leaders in the hospitality industry. Chinese customers will be able to experience The Lincoln Way in independent Lincoln stores set to open in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. By year end a total of eight Lincoln Stores are planned, bringing the brand’s personalized service, fine attention to detail, and class-leading technologies to Guangzhou, Chengdu and Qingdao.

“Lincoln is beginning the next chapter of its nearly 100 year history by bringing two breakthrough products and the Lincoln Way to China,” said Robert Parker, president, Lincoln China. “The Lincoln MKC, a luxury utility vehicle, and the MKZ, a premium mid-size sedan, will introduce Chinese drivers to the Lincoln brand and our all-new facilities, which are designed to offer each consumer a personally crafted luxury experiences. In 2015 we will introduce additional products to the line-up as we continue to meet the needs of China’s new luxury customers.”

The Lincoln MKC

The Lincoln MKC, a luxury SUV, delivers smooth power on demand with its new 2.0 liter EcoBoost® Engine. The 240-horsepower engine uses the boost of turbocharging, the precision and efficiency of direct injection, and the sophistication of twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) to deliver a standard powertrain that’s as intelligent as it is powerful.

The Lincoln MKC also features continuously controlled damping (CCD), an advanced suite of sensors that continuously monitor and adjust suspension and take driving to another level. The same sensors detect body motion and steering and braking dynamics in milliseconds, letting the driver select a preferred operating mode — Comfort, Normal or Sport — that offers everything from an exceptional ride quality to a more spirited, sporty feel.

The new MKC blends the best traits of a sport crossover with the refined design of a luxury sedan. The class-exclusive hands-free power liftgate effortlessly glides open to reveal the rear cargo area, and the MKC’s “Approach Detection Welcome Mat” delivers a luxurious welcome every time the driver returns to the car. Sensing the driver’s approach from up to 2.5 meters away, the car’s exterior lighting brightens, door-handle pockets softly glow, and a Lincoln logo welcome light illuminates the entrance in front of both the driver and passenger side of the car.

Exquisite craftsmanship and luxurious comfort continue in the MKC interior. Premium materials like authentic aluminum and available wood trim enhance rich, soft-touch surfaces, and available Bridge of Weir® Deepsoft leather-trimmed seating helps to create a unique, luxury driving experience.

The Lincoln MKZ

For the Lincoln MKZ, designers took the notion of “elegant simplicity” as their point of departure – and arrived at a luxury sedan with a stunning integration of lines and curves. The Lincoln MKZ features Lincoln’s split-wing grille, sweeping roof contours, and dramatic LED tail lamps with signature LED accents—all seamlessly integrated for a unified, sleek and modern design.

The Lincoln MKZ also offers a retractable panoramic Vista Roof®, a 1.4 square meter glass panel which offers a remarkable view and fills the cabin with natural light. With the largest rooftop opening of any modern sedan, the Lincoln MKZ’s Vista Roof also comes with a power sunshade to help keep the vehicle cool when the temperature heats up.

Like the Lincoln MKC, the Lincoln MKZ is equipped with the dynamic 2.0 liter EcoBoost® Engine and a Continuously controlled damping (CCD) system, giving drivers a powerful, efficient, and smooth driving experience.

Departing from the conventional, Lincoln designers crafted Push-Button shift—a set of transmission controls laid out vertically on the center instrument panel. Eliminating the floor shifter frees up space between the driver and passenger seats, and enhances the clean, uncluttered appearance that characterizes the whole of the interior.

Active Motion® is also available on the front seats of the Lincoln MKZ. This quiet, class-leading technology uses 11 sets of air cushions to adjust the contour of the seat back and bottom cushion—or activate a gentle rolling-pattern massage motion.

With the introduction of the all-new MKZ and MKC, Lincoln is bringing a whole new level of luxury to China. For more information, customers can contact Lincoln

"....In 2015 we will introduce additional products to the line-up as we continue to meet the needs of China’s new luxury customers.”

Does this mean the 2016MKX and All New Continental/MKS will both launch in 2015????

I am sure the new China dealers are pushing for more product. They didn't invent heavily in a new store, just to have two vehicles to sell.

So by the end of 2015 the lineup in China should look like this:

2 CUVs
- MKC
- MKX

2 Sedans
- MKZ
- Continental/MKS

as I forgot to include in the plans bigger marketing thread
from the article Jose linked.
"...By 2016, Lincoln will bring five new vehicles to China, starting this autumn with the Lincoln MKZ, a midsize luxury sedan, and the Lincoln MKC, a small luxury utility vehicle. The two vehicles will be followed by a midsize luxury SUV, an all-new full-size luxury sedan and the Navigator."

imho "By 2016" actually means by the END of cy2016
and
the sneaky underhanded loophole in this article is the word "introduce"
which
can just mean "show a concept" or whatever for cy2015

Aren't the dealers in China Lincoln owned and operated? I don't believe it's a franchise setup like here.

The website also has a page where potential dealers can apply for a dealership. A picture lists all the 35 cities where Lincoln wants to have dealers and again Beijing is absent. Very strange indeed, the only explanation that I can think of is that Lincoln is planning a wholly owned flagship store of some sort for the capital.

http://www.carnewschina.com/2014/09...arket-on-october-23-but-only-in-three-cities/

from this I guess that they don't own (or at least the 100%) of the current dealers

Not sure about that. Will ask some questions....
Stores are franchises. There is 1 store as part of the launch in Beijing and another 'coming soon' in 2015.

"Lincoln officially opens its door in China this fall.

We are proud to announce the opening of its first 8 stores in Beijing(2), Shanghai(2), Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Qingdao with many opening in 2015 across China, all bringing the Lincoln’s personalized luxury experiences to you. "
