Buick Regal GS Confirmed for Production - InsideLine

Just the Facts:
  • Buick announced that it will build the Buick Regal GS.
  • Regal GS is a production version of the high-performance Regal GS show car first seen at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.
  • The show car was equipped with a 2.0-liter Ecotec turbocharged engine.
DETROIT — Buick said on Thursday that it will build the Buick Regal GS, after receiving "a lot of positive consumer feedback" about the high-performance Regal GS show car that debuted in January at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. the closest thing is the Taurus SHO, but if it gets the V6 Turbo, like the Opel OPC, it will leave the SHO in the dust
Noooo... The Regal is a midsize sedan, as the same size as the Malibu or Fusion. The Taurus compite with La Crosse in the "near full size" sedan market

from a perfomance stand point the Taurus and OPC are similar, nowhere else though..

The irony in the whole matter is that the only thing that saved Buick was having GM kill off Saturn and give Buick the models intended for them.
Ford could have taken that route with Mercury, but didn't.

If Ford takes GM's lead and kills off one division to help another, maybe that Mercury Tracer will wind up being a Lincoln MK_ , and the Mariner and Mountianeer replacements will be MK_'s as well.
