China - Import Brand Price Cuts

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China will cut the import tariffs on complete vehicles and auto parts from July 1, 2018, which is another milestone for the country's four decades of reform and opening-up. Specifically, 135 tariff items with tax rates standing at 25% and 4 tariff items with tax rates standing at 20% will be reduced to 15%. This is quite a big reduction that will undoubtedly be welcomed by the consumers who intend to buy imported premium cars.

Sale of imported vehicles should drop dramatically for June waiting for the big price drop starting July 1. Resale value of import models bought before July 1 will take a big hit as well. Which means all import brands should have exaggerated sales numbers for July.

"FAIR TRADE"

Is that really a lot to ask for?
China has been planning the reduction in tariffs since their 2016 announcement and stayed on schedule. They also have another wave of reduction from the 15% coming in the next couple years.
