The New Lincoln Continental Makes Asia Debut at Auto China 2016

Lincoln

Lincoln recently unveiled the new Lincoln Continental at Auto China 2016. Elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene, this flagship full-size luxury sedan delivers Quiet Luxury to the industry’s most discerning customers.

Available by year-end, the Lincoln Continental delivers first-class travel for clients with warm, human touches and contemporary design. The sedan is designed to appeal to culturally progressive clients who define luxury on their own terms, craving superior quality, craftsmanship and safety.

“The Continental name has long been associated with the ultimate in Lincoln beauty and luxury,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Lincoln.

“With the all-new Continental, we are focusing on creating more human, personally tailored experiences for our clients, providing what we call quiet luxury.”

Elegance through Design

The new Lincoln Continental’s design is thoroughly modern, with Lincoln’s new signature grille and an athletic profile that is dynamic, elegant and progressive.

Lincoln’s new flagship welcomes drivers with a brand-exclusive lighting sequence. As the driver approaches the vehicle with the key, the LED signature lighting in the lower front fascia and tail lamps fade on while the headlamp signature lighting awakens in a fluid motion. The Lincoln mat illuminates the pavement around the front doors, helping show any hazards, while select interior lights warmly light the cabin inside.

Lincoln Continental’s door handles offer elegant and effortless entry with new e-latch door release. The release is discretely integrated within the belt line, leaving the body side clean. With the gentle touch of a button, the vehicle’s doors pop open and then use available power-cinching technology to automatically close and secure.

An elegant available panoramic sunroof nearly covers the entire roof area; the front half slides up and over the rear – creating a large open-air driving experience for all five occupants and an even greater feeling of spaciousness.

Effortless Power

The new Lincoln Continental offers available technologies that help create better and safer drivers.

The new Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers provides smooth, responsive, yet quiet power.

The Lincoln Continental’s available all-wheel drive system is paired with Dynamic Torque Vectoring that transfers torque on demand to the appropriate rear wheel while driving through corners, providing confident handling and stability.

Lincoln Drive Control provides the driver a choice of three settings – comfort, normal and sport – adapting steering and suspension settings to tailor the ride and handling. Available adaptive steering helps optimize your steering response, enabling the vehicle to react more smoothly and precisely to driver input.

Effortless driving assistance is available through the optional adaptive cruise control, which can automatically slow the Lincoln Continental in stop-and-go traffic, resuming speed when traffic clears.

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to scan the roadway ahead and, if collision risk with a vehicle or pedestrian is detected, provides a warning to the driver. If the driver does not respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of or even eliminate a frontal collision.

To take the stress out of parallel and perpendicular parking, the car’s new 360-degree camera system uses views from cameras mounted in the grille, decklid and side mirrors (180 degrees each), then seamlessly stitches these snapshots together to create an image in the screen so the driver can see around the vehicle – as if a camera is overhead.

Serene Interior

The new Lincoln Continental’s interior is designed to help all occupants rejuvenate.

One of several highlights is Lincoln’s new Perfect Position Seats - inspired by private jets and high-end office furniture - that can adapt up to 30 different ways. The patented design allows the seat to adjust to the individual’s body shape and weight for optimal stretch and comfort and includes heat and ventilation features. Available independent thigh extensions help reduce muscle fatigue.

Rear passengers can enjoy first-class travel amenities, too, with available features including audio and climate controls, sunshades and reclining heated and ventilated rear seats. The streamlined interior design provides generous rear legroom as well.

Continental occupants can also enjoy an available Revel® audio system, designed specifically to work in concert with the interior design and acoustics, transforming the cabin into a personal amphitheater with three distinct listening modes – Stereo, Audience and On Stage. Use of the E-latch release enabled optimal speaker positioning within the Continental doors, alongside the conveniently located seat controls.

Innovations in managing vehicle interior noise and vibration, including Active Noise Control and acoustic laminated glass create a quiet, comfortable environment for both drivers and passengers to enjoy conversation or contemplation.

The new Lincoln Continental features new design details. Stitching on the seats is specified at six to seven stitches per inch for an elegant couture-like appearance, and the slats of the center console door are laser-cut to maximize the consistency of the grain pattern.

For those seeking the highest expression of Lincoln luxury, the new Lincoln Continental comes with three available Presidential Series designer themes – Chalet, Thoroughbred and Continental-exclusive Rhapsody.

Inside, opulent materials include leather seating, leather-wrapped console and instrument panels, unique stitching, genuine wood or Artesian aluminum appliques.

Those wheels are horrible! The Continental NEEDS the larger diameter wheels otherwise the whole car just looks cheapened.

^ like with most the comments on the welcome lighting press release,
imho it's just planning a sequence of little additions down the line,
sorta the opposite of planned obsolescence => planned new-lings

I agree, puny 18in wheels have no place on the Conti and shouldn't be offered at all, anywhwere...yeah I understand ride quality which is why the entire car should have been engineered around 19 and 20inch wheels
