As with anything a ton of salt should be ingested with the rumors.

Continental has to much value to be used as a trim level, that would be the ultimate sign that Lincoln has lost their way. Suicide doors tend to make ingress/egress more difficult, but the idea that Lincoln would make a design statement like that would make me feel all warm and fuzzy!!

I think the idea that Lincoln has just recently received the green light to use the S550 leads me to question the source. My reason is the S550 as a platform will be fully halfway through its life by the time a Lincoln hits the streets. From a ROI perspective it makes absolutely no sense unless they intend to evolve and upgrade the platform for Lincoln use and it is effectively a new platform that is S550 based and thus has a lifespan of its own.

If all this is true and I hope it is. I can't wait to see. Although I have a hard time believing it'll have suicide doors maybe in concept form but not too sure about them being on the final product.

^ I agree with the Continental name having too much prestige to be used as a trim level. I certainly would not want to see them do that.

The same poster told me that Lincoln was planning on releasing the car at the end of the year, but they sped up its release cycle. Therefore, he believes that we may see the production car in New York.

That kind of makes sense considering Cadillac will be unveiling the CT6. I'm sure Lincoln would love to steal their thunder, and with an AWD large sedan with suicide doors, they may be able to pull it off.

The suicide door rumor has been floating around for a while. I, too, would love to see Lincoln take such big risks! It would definitely help get the car noticed. The MKS kind of blends in with the background.

I remember those! They had a little more chrome and the word "Continental" stitched into the seats. It probably isn't something Lincoln should do again.

Dang Taurus, now you're making me miss the Town Car. :(

I truly believe the LincStang was greenlit about 2 YEARS ago - actually before the S550 back-tracked on J Mays avant garde idea

tons more later (after I look at MT) :thumb: for sharing Dequindre!!!!!!!!!

Possibly related:
-Ausrutherford has previosuly said that a RWD Lincoln would go into production in December 2015. Of course things could be delayed
-Wings has admitted that a RWD Lincoln is coming sooner rather than later.
-A Lincoln timeline somewhere shows a "whitespace" vehicle debuting/going on sale later this year
-A fourth point that I just forgot :banghead:

Are you sure the timeline had a whitespace vehicle on it? The one Ford showed to investors had not such thing. But then again, Ford's timeline made no mention of the GT, so I guess anything is possible.

Yeah I'm sure. Of course I can't find the timeline now, but posts mentioning it actually say it will launch in 2017, which makes more sense for a RWD Lincoln.

^ Interesting. Thanks for sharing 2b2. According to that we should be seeing a revised MKZ anytime now.

^ I vote for A8 & S8

I just hope that *IF* they have the Continental Name anywhere on the car or in the literature
that they've pulled ahead ~1/3rd of the styling themes of the RWD car
*IF* it is RWD
THEN the problem is What to do about boosting the rest of the lineup
which
could explain the sooner debut - - leaving next NAIAS for the Z-Sport with co-ordinating new styling .........and maybe a LincStang concept

- - - - - - -

and
from reading MT with their CT6 comments,
regardless of what WE think of either car
imho
it's practically a certainty that CHINA will like the (wic) better!!

just-imho :angel
