pertaining to some recent questions...

"Hi,
I was going to post a new topic in [CompetitionNews] but do not have rights."

Members can only post in the DISCUSSION AREAs,
or the SUGGEST NEWS subSection,
or of course as a Reply in Any existing, open thread.
Non-Fomoco/competition stuff usually works well in the geographic sections of the COMPETITION DISCUSSION sub-sections.
Hope that makes sense.

"I saw an worthwhile article and wanted to post it on FiN.
I know I can add a link to the post, but what are the rules about adding pictures from another site. Do you need permission, or just a reference to the site?"

it IS important to provide some kind of Link-back.

as far as what/how-much we can post;
if a photo is on the article's main-page or header, imho we can hot-link 1 or 2 moderate size versions, tho not EVERY full-size photo in a Gallery.
Some auto-Spies are very sensitive about copyright = BrendaPriddy, ChrisDoane; so I'd only use a tiny thumbnail or None.
For the text, iirc it should be less than half to be strictly legal.

EXCEPTIONS are Mfg sites where we are WELCOME to post the whole article *IF* we want - some are just too long.

btw, a blank line between paragraphs makes text a LOT easier to read :)

====================

Formatting // Using [Tag]s
there's a Link to a "bb-code" page near the bottom of every NewReply window with HowTo's

I'm old-school so I type in the [tags] for formatting, links, or pix:

rather than let the software do it.

You basically just need to add the "url" [tags] and "img" [tags] yourself before & after the addresses.
before, without a / slash turns them ON
after, with a / slash turns them OFF

Look at these in the Quote reply-window to see the [tag] codes
ORIGINAL POST (automatic tags):
WITH TAGS TYPED:
It is nice looking, but I liked the renderings we saw earlier this week better.

I would like Lincoln to go in with Mazda on this:

Article link
then WITH THE WORDS "Article link" AND ["img" TAGS] INSIDE THE ["url" TAGS]:
It is nice looking, but I liked the renderings we saw earlier this week better.

I would like Lincoln to go in with Mazda on this:
Article link

THE ^LAST^ MAKES THE PHOTO ITSELF CLICKABLE

...if anyone else would like to try to better explain or share tips/experience,
please DO!

:joyous:

added info in the Jaguar I-Pace thread and *bump*/copying it here too

if it's a long video, or for purposes of a "punchline"; you can have the video start, when/where-you-want, (in a new window-tab) by including a time thingie:
there are prolley other ways to do that, too
