The first Fusion S models hit the Ford Fusion inventory system.

It was reported earlier that initially Flat Rock would only produce the Fusion S and SE models with 2.5L I4 and 1.5L EcoBoost Engines and automatic transmissions. Flat Rock would also only initially produce cars for limited regional distribution.

The window sticker below is from zip code 48042 in Michigan.

Fusion Daily Inventory is at 21,700 as of today. Let's see how it improves over the month of Sept as Flat Rock production ramps up. Also is an expected incentive on the Fusion S and SE that takes advantage of the increased production.

UPDATE:
Flat Rock production kicked off just last week, with only one shift able to produce 100k additional Fusion units.

What this means is that there is actually a 300k unit production max capacity at Flat Rock for the Fusion, adding two more shifts to the same line. So Ford actually has the capacity to produce 550k Fusion sedans, 250k in Hermosillo(50K for MKZ production) and 300k in Flat Rock.

With Flat Rock production ramping up in September, October, which is the start of 4th quarter, should see Fusion daily inventory hit 30k units, with an expected 8k monthly sales increase as Ford starts it's end of year push.

By comparison, Toyota and Honda are maxed out at 450k and 475k respectively.

If you click the link directly it takes you to the window sticker. Copy and Paste will not work as the link is truncated by the system.

Here is a shortcut for the link that may work better for you.

This is really good news, allows Hermosillo to build more MKZ's and Titanium's.

Is that inventory on lots only or does it include "in route" vehicles too?

Tonight....Fusion daily inventory leading into the first weekend after Flat Rock production start has reached 29,814.

Camry inventory is at 39,146.

Accord is at 47,544 who is clearly after the #1 midsize car spot for 2013(30k behind Camry), while ensuring the Civic with 46k in inventory remains #1 compact car. Focus inventory is holding at 24k, but Corolla inventory has dropped to just 18k.

CR-V is matching Escape with 27k units in inventory.

After Saturday deliveries and sales, dealers are showing 30,081 Fusion units in inventory as of today. With about 3100 Ford dealers, that leaves on average about 9 vehicles per dealership. With higher volume dealers having more vehicles.

But with Ford earning on average $2,500 more per Fusion sales than Camry, 30,081 units will create $75,202,500 more revenue for Ford, than a equal number of discounted Camry sales.

With Camry at 39,766, and with 1445 dealers, that leaves on average about 27 vehicles per dealership.

Accord is at a whopping 47,847 in inventory offering incentives similar to Camry.

So it's understandable why Ford has no 'anything it takes/kamikaze' marketing plant to hold on to a #1 crown like Toyota, or to reach #1 like Honda, but a smarter profit based plan to offer the best midsize vehicle consumers want and are willing to pay for, and increase production to meet that demand. Not create false demand through overproduction and costly discounting to increase sales volume.

It's Monday morning, and Fusion daily inventory is right at 30,109. This should include all new inventory loaded in on Saturday, and sales deducted.

Camry is holding at 39k.

Accord is holding at 47k.

Actually it is Honda that represents the pinnacle of the mid size mass market sedan triumvirate not Nissan, Toyota, or Ford. Their retail penetration is something that Ford could do well to emulate, and to be # 2 with such significant retail sales is nothing short of amazing.
