Dec-02-2013 11:00 AM ET

SÃO BERNARDO, Brazil - Ford was one of the big winners in the fourth stage of the New Vehicle Assessment testing program for Latin America held by Latin NCAP, an independent new vehicle assessment program for the region.

The result ensured an outstanding media coverage that pointed Ford’s as pioneering in terms of safety with its new generation of vehicles, in addition to scoring this aspect as a one of Ford’s top priorities.

This result grants EcoSport the title of the first car produced in Brazil to receive 5 stars for safety. Besides it, the Focus ranked as the most advanced car security in its category.

With advanced passive and active safety systems which reduce the impact of collisions, EcoSport helps drivers maintain the control of the vehicle in different types of terrain.

The highest-ever Latin NCAP score confirms that the Focus is the safest vehicle in its class. It also earned a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) assessments, and was named a “Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States.

The all-new Focus is loaded with safety features. It is equipped with antilock brakes, electronic brake distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, and depending on the series, it offers two, four or six airbags (front, side and curtain).

The EcoSport and Focus are the first South American-produced vehicles to earn a five-star ranking from the international safety rating organization.
